Default iPod Connectivity Issue

Hi All,

Before anyone bashes me for not searching, I want to let you know that I did search and could not find anything in reference to what I have been experiencing. I have a 2008 Scion tC, and an 80GB Apple iPod Classic 5.5Gen. Up until recently it has worked fine. I connect it to the ipod adapter cable in the center console and it works great. My problem is that after 2-3 minutes of playtime, it some how stays connected, but disconnects. I can still hear the music, and see track/title info on the deck. But I cannot control the ipod through the steering wheel or deck. I looked down at the ipod and it is at the normal ipod menu instead of the "SCION ok to Disconnect" Screen. I can navigate on the ipod and select the song I wish to play without issues. It will play the song, but I guess I am just used to having it work through the deck/steering wheel. I noticed that this has been happening since it got really cold outside, so that might have something to do with it. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've never heard of or had this problem. Take it back to the dealer.

I have an 08 as well and the problem i had was that my ipod would skip thru songs and i wouldnt be able to hear anything....my ipod was cold ( since i leave it in my car at all times ) and i took it to the Geek Squad and they said it was something with my ipod and how cold it was, and they reseted some ish on it so i tryed it again and wha la it worked prefectly.....so i would have to say it had something to do with the weather but i still keep my ipod connected and inside of my car....so it hasnt happen again....*knocking on wood* so idk....if not take it back to the dealer and see what they say or play around with the radio and ipod....it just might be in a funky setting the you're not used to....

I would suggest checking the software version on your iPod, but being as it is one of the newer ones it may not be the issue...unless it's too new for the headunit... *shrug*

Its actually gotten better. I think it is something related to the cold, and the deck. Today was a prettty decent day in terms of weather. Havent had any disconnects when the weather is a little better. I also noticed that having the car nice and toasty usually helps. So I guess in this case it was the deck being too cold, and disconnecting the ipod. Not logical, but the only conclusion I could come to. Oh, and I did have the latest software update when this first started happening, so I dont think that was what caused it. Thanks for the ideas, and suggestions.
