JDM appeal
As mentioned there really is nothing "JDM" about a tC except that it is made in Japan. But without an equivalent vehicle actually distributed in Japan, there is no legitimate JDM market for it - despite what eBay says.
So what would the appeal actually be for?
to me its the jdm car that never was. Its easy to argue how it is, and easy to argue it isn't. Its also gonna be a rare car, seeing how many of them ended up getting destroyed, and how short the production was
true but I mean the "name" 6 years compared to how long the focus, f-150, coralla etc nameplate has been used its pretty short. But then again we don't know if their gonna continue using the namplate "tc" or try something new.
I understand you're thinking... but that doesn't necessarily make them JDM.
JDM parts are parts for a Japanese domestic vehicle that then imported for a US market vehicle.
So the Civic is a perfect example. There are Civics in Japan that are basically the same thing in the US - except many of the parts/engines are different. So those parts/engines for the Japanese vehicles applied to vehicles in the US would be JDM parts.
Make sense?

yea I understand the domestic market. The tc is such a weird car because yes it is assembled in japan by toyota. You could technically get jdmparts for another car using the 2az-fe engine but getting them to fit and work would be alot harder considering their are tweaks and diffrences between the engine depending on what model it is in correct?
I have a friend that is quite the JDM fiend and the way he explains it is a USDM Civic must be turned into a JDM Civic by changing the exterior of the car to make it look like a stock japanese Civic. The stock headlights in japan differ than the US version so do the tails, the bumpers. Acuras are debadge and given Honda emblems cuz there are no Acuras in Japan. So the JDM appeal for tC's aren't here because there is nothing JDM about it.
jdm aftermarket product wouldn't really count as jdm.
if that's the case all aftermarket parts from japan would be considered jdm.
jdm is having a japanese counterpart, and making your car jdm would mean making your stock usdm honda or whatever and buying jdm counterparts to make it a stock japanese car.
in which the tc has NO jdm counterpart or parts bc the tc was never sold in japan.
jdm part examples would be (red honda badges, headlights/taillights, K/MH gauges, Type-r engine parts etc. and most importantly RIGHT HAND DRIVE conversions)

^^ I don't think there's a true definition to being JDM, but as far as the tC goes I don't consider the car JDM just because it wasn't made in japan. As far as parts goes, I do consider there to be JDM parts for the tc. Perfect example is the ARC Airbox, project mu bbk, etc. I don't know how you wouldn't consider it a JDM part if it is made in japan.. that doesn't make any sense at all to me. JDM = Japanese Domestic Market, meaning all after market parts made in japan are JDM lol, I don't think you understand that part of it flintmica2005
