ok now that i have used the search and dont have to worry about any1 getting hostile towards me :D , is there a JET chip or similar item out for the tc thats eliminates the governor.

I wouldn't trust JET any farther than I can throw them.

On the supra they claimed to have a reflash for the MKIII, but on the MKIII's ECU, the ROM Is on the processor and its non-flashable. This means that you can't just reprogram it, you must remove the current processor, add a daughterboard w/separate ROM and processor. All JET does is place a sticker in your ECU and seal the ECU closed so you will think they actually did something.

Scam artists. Besides, even if you remove the electronic governor, you aren't going to get much past 127 with 160 hp and a trans that is geared for 0-60. Also it is going to take you a week to get to those high speeds. Not worth voiding the warranty.

 

Actually the limit on the governer is 127 mph.

 

and hitting 113 is real easy

 

why would you want to mess with the governor?
toyota has taken great care to make sure that all the intricate parts of your car work together harmoniously. why throw that work out the window?
do you want to go faster than 130?
i guess anyone stupid enough to do so, is the JET chips target market. go for it, dumb@$$

 

yes i would like to go 130. if you havent noticed at 127 mph is revving at 5.9 rpm. why not tak it to 6.2 or 6.5 where the rev limiter is.

and as for the JET chip... i wunt get it.

I thought 113 sounded low. Yes it probably is easy to get to 113, but past 127... the speeds will climb much slower.

 

alright guys.. I have been to 127 in the tC several times.. I would have to say that without performance mods it would be hard to go too terribly much faster unless you had a 5 mile straight...

um...im sorry but if i buy a car and it says 140mph than i expect that for any reason i wanted to reach that speed i have the ability to do so. if it governs at 127 then the damn thing should say 130 and atleast i know what i can go up to!

 

I don't know about you, but I would rather it go higher than what the car will initially go.. That way, when I start modifying my car, one of the first things I have to change is not the speedo...

 

Theres laws in america clown ___ ...you have to a speed limiter, so dumb people like you don't kill other people going 127+ mph in an eco box turned missile on the roads. Plus, tires are speed rated, control is speed rated. The car could reach 140 mph, but it won't be like if you were driving 50, you car will easily lose control, the slightest movement of your hand could trash you. Basically its more sensitive, so they put the governor at a place where you could still have control, after that point, the car makes its own decisions.

 

i think everyone is aware of the laws. the tires are Z rated and can actually go up to 140 mph. nobody is here to kill anyone therefore anyone speeding will do it at the appropriate times.

if you wanna stay away from those who speed then stay in the right lane.

 

Actually the limiter is not nec. set for optimal handling, it was prob just set by toyota for..."moral reasons". I work for Benz and that is what we do for US cars. In Europe there are no limiters on out veh's, but in the US, Benz and BMW made a sort silent agreement that all of our veh would have a limit of 150mph.

Any person who knows anything about cars knows the faster you go the smaller the window of control can become. Unfortunately unless your driving on the autobahn, there is this funny thing called a speed limit, and while like most of you I only obey it...sometimes, it is there for a reason.

I kinda hoped the race would be over by 125 mph :D ... tune for HP usually means your trying to increase your 1/8th mile, 1/4 mile, 0-60 or 0-100 times... not to reach 150 mph......

Most drag strips and even open roads are only so long and you had better not hit a corner at 150 with one of these unless you've made serious mods throughout. I wouldn't mind ridin with 350 hp under the hood but hell at 150 mph I had better be racing for some serious $ or running from 5-O (j/k.. don't run.. they usually win- unless your riding a GSXR1000 :D ).

 

It's 155mph.....

Speed limiter is often set at the level where it covers those of us with slowest relfexes, and then some. Kinda like McDonalds coffee cups, or something... Most of us could handle additional 10-20 mph, but the higher you go, the closer you are to the actual mechanical limits (and your own limits). Personally, there is no need to go that fast anywhere in the US, except perhaps on the raceway/autocross/drag.

That said, I'm sure aftermarket will come up with ECU reflashes that'll move the rev limiter and speed governor wherever you want it.
