Default June 2005 Import Tunner

While flipping through the new issue I came across the power pages with a 2004 Scion tC (thought it was a 2005) they did a dyno on the AEM CAI and showed a 3.9hp and 2.3 lb-ft of torque. I am glad I did not wait, and went with the K&N.

Also the power gains on the DC Sports Exuast is minimal for the cost 3.2hp and 2.9 lb-ft of torque.

They also did the a dyno with the DC Sports header which showed good gains 8.5hp and 7.8 lb-ft of torque.

Just thought you all should know

Thank you! Now this makes people think twice (https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...r=asc&start=25)
what i said about intakes dont make what AEM and other intake companies claim, you know that 6.1+ hp bs. Hahahaha

Dont Believe that 30hp gain just a Header alone
Dont Believe that 6.1hp+ gain just a Intake alone
Dont Believe that 15-20HP+ gain just a Exhuast alone

Thank you for posting this.

Well the issue I read it in said 19s maybe a misprint... either way the AEM makes around the same as all the other CAIs no of them are gonna be much better than another.

Well in my issue it says 18. But you're right about ALL Intakes are all the same, its just a matter of the "NAME".

The size of the rim has nothing to do with numbers on a dyno

Or, maybe it does? If I had 15" rims then I could get the 205hp without buying the SC! Yeeah, I dont have to wait till spring/June/mid-summer/August/fall/by the end of the year to get the SC!

It doesn't affect crank horsepower but it may have a small effect on the dyno.

A larger wheel is usually heavier, and because it's greater diameter, this is a large increase in rotational mass. This means the engine has to work harder to overcome the inertia and make the wheel spin faster. The engine is making the same power, but some of that is lost in energy put into making the wheel spin to begin with. Now it's not MUCH, but it's enough that higher hp race cars only use larger wheels if they need more rotor/caliper space, as well as filling out the space to keep a low profile tire (which helps for steering response and agility).

If I'm racing, I'd much rather use 16s or 17s than my 18" wheels. You can feel the difference if you push your car enough.

-Just my 2 cents, not trying to get off topic...

Yea thats what I said and maybe if you get 10" wheels you can have 300hp... Let s all be jackasses! The wheels on a car can change results of dynos by a few hp which is what it probably did as the dc header has dynoed higher than what it did for them...
