Default Just bought a 2006 Scion tC (Superwhite). Need some help.

Hello,

I just bought a 2006 Scion tC (Superwhite) a week ago. Been following the forums here for a few days. I bought it used from a dealer and it came modded (body/lip kit, pedestal spoiler, tints, muffler tip addon, injen cold air intake, two huge subwoofers in the trunk, pioneer avic-n3 navigation, hid kit, cathode lights above the pedals and on the passenger side, amongst some other stuff). I'm loving the car so far, not having a lot of complaints. Eventually I'm hoping to either turbo charge it or trd supercharge it and maybe add lamborghini doors.

I am having a problem with the HID headlights though. My passenger side bulb went out and I'm having trouble finding a replacement bulb. None of the stores around me seem to have bulbs for the aftermarket kit; and I don't even know which kit the previous owner installed, I looked at the ballast and all it says is High Intensity Discharge Ballast. If anyone can help me out, that would be great.

I also want to install an alarm system with pager/remote starter. I'm having trouble choosing which system to purchase; at the moment I'm stuck between Viper 7900 and Zenesis. If someone can leave some comments about how either works on the tC that would be great. I'm a little concerned about the Zenesis as I've seen a thread or two about the unlock for the passenger seat not working since you have to push unlock twice and the option is not there.

Here are some pictures, although the quality is bad:

Looks good. You can buy replacement HID bulbs online. There are a few sellers in the Sponsored Sales section of this site that carry them. I would suggest buying a pair instead of a single bulb so that they match. Make sure the kit has a relay harness on it also.

I'm gonna stop by this custom car shop in my area tomorrow and see what we can figure out about the bulbs, all the 9006, h1, h3, h7 and all that confuse me. If that doesn't work, then I'll have to get in contact with the previous owner and see what kind of bulbs to get. I just ordered the last Zenesis alarm kit from 180tuning earlier tonight, should get here later this week. Hopefully everything works out.

You should check the ballast as well. The ballast could just be bad. Nice purchase though.

Thank you, and yes I will definitely ask tomorrow. What happened was a week ago or so, my passenger side headlight just turned off. If I turned the switch to the off position and turned it back on, it would be fine for a little while before it went out again. A few days later, the passenger side just died. So I'm not so sure it's just the bulb, but the bulb is definitely bad.

go FedEx. UPS employs only idiots.

i ordered an AC before and when I got it back, the box was all smashed up.

I also ordered a laptop from Dell and they were 3 days late. I checked the online log and it said \"delivered\". I was like WTF? I called Dell and reported it stolen and also reported it to UPS HQ. Dell sent me a replacement FexEx next day for free.

Then all of a sudden the UPS idiot was at my door delivering my laptop days LATE. Perhaps they were planning to steal it or something and when I threatened to get the authorities involved... it suddenly appeared.

So did you get 2 laptops or did you return one?

I returned the one that UPS delivered late.

I\'m sure Dell wouldn\'t just forget about a $1.200 device.
Besides, Dell was just awesome for sending me a replacement laptop with in 24 hours free of charge. They are just awesome.

I spit on UPS.

You should've just kept the late one until Dell complained, if they ever did.

Anyways, back on topic. So I went to the custom shop in my area today and they didn't really deal with HIDs. I'm trying to get in contact with the previous owner, and if that doesn't work out, I guess I'll have to replace the entire kit.

I went to AutoZone the other day and they had 9006 bulbs but they were just bulbs and mine had wires coming out of the bulb. Plus I'm not even sure mine is 9006, it's like a hit or miss, and with something so expensive I don't really want to take the chance. My bulbs look like the four pictures on the mid-left side of this website:
http://www.plasmagarage.com/XENON-bulbs.html
It has those same two wires coming out of it. Even with that picture matching my bulb, the website seems to have many different types like 880, 9005, 9006, H1, H3, H7, H10, and H11. I don't know which one is compatible with my kit. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I go to college at SUNY Binghamton University, which is where I'm at right now. But I live in the city.

I talked to the previous owner and found out that the bulb is 9006 type. But there might also be something wrong with the ballast or relay or something, so I'm just gonna wait a little over a week and go see a friend of his that put the hid kit on the car. I don't think it's worth it to buy replacement bulbs and have it burn out again if something's wrong with the kit.

Hey. Yeah I just went to dreamakers today. They said they don't really deal with HID lights but rather performance mods, and that they didn't have any replacement bulbs. Seems like no one in the area knows about anything

Swap your passenger and driver bulb and if the problem stays onthe passenger side then ballast is going out more htan likely......if problem goes to drivers side then bulb is dying...........there are a few kits available from sellers here..........with harness and relay and ready to go........got to sponsered sales and look around you will find a few sellers....hope that helps onthe trouble shooting.

you'll need a HID bulb that fits the 9006 socket. check out the sponsored sales section and post in one of the HID kit threads asking for a pair of bulbs. should be about 70 bucks a pair or something

Well instead, I just bought a new kit (mobileHID 8000k); i've been hearing some good things about them. I'm pretty sure the existing kit on my car is not that great, I'm just going to swap it out.
