Default KBB values

while researching another car i entered my tC for chits and giggles and got the following values for my auto tC with 14,000 miles and only a six disc (in my zip code):

trade in value: $15,675.00
private party value: $17,850.00
retail value: $20,080.00

odd....since i only paid about 18k.

I have always wondered how they get there numbers. But I know this is debatable, but thats what they are selling for at dealerships. I will take a window sticker pic of one at a local Hyundai dealership. $19,999 for a 2005 with 9,000 miles and only the neon tubes. And if you check ebay they arfe all above 17,000 for 2005's.

DOnt people realize they can buy brand new cheaper?

my neighbor works for a car dealership and they got in a tC. he came over to talk to me about it and told me how he had gotten in a "2004 tC" and it "only had about 10k"....they were asking $19,900.00. it goes to show that folk are kind of in the dark about the car. used pricing will have to catch up....i may cash in before they do.

I think if mine was stock I would trade it in every 3 months so I always had less than 3000 miles and the new car smell. Plus alittle extra cash.

you may be able to get it....plug in any lower end car with 14k and see how many come up valued over the original retail paid.

sry, i've already commited to one for 30k. i'm also trying to see if i can get out of mine without losing any money.

btw, nick...if there is a way for me to get out of this camry without a loss (personal preference; nothing against the car) i gotta do it. your tC is awesome...sc and all; still imo, the car is a camry with a sc and there are lots of other choices at 200 hp. no disrespect.

i love the car though; best dang 18k i ever spent...i was even thinking about a supercharger at some point....k, not really; i'm thinking about another car.

anyway, fun car....just thinking about stepping up a bit.

No disrespect taken. But I think there are alot of differences between the tC and a camry, all they share is an engine. I personally think its a nice looking car.

DEFFINETLY wasnt my first choice. But I was buying a EVO VIII but then I would never have been able to afford to modify it. I think the tC is a good compromise car for someone with a wife. Cheap enough for her not to get mad. But stylish enough, and enough potential to keep me happy.

Its a give take type of car. But deffinetly not a camry, My car only has two doors.

Glad the tC doesn't depreciate that quick. Maybe I should sell my '05 for an '07

If you do that you will have to wait and if this is your only car then you will most likely wind up just adding miles which in turn will only lower the ammount you can get for it.
