Default Key wont turn

I did a search but couldnt find anything. Sometimes when I go to turn the key in the ignition, it wont turn. Wiggling it around will get it to go, but sometimes i have to turn really hard and it feels like im going to break something. Has anyone else had this problem? Are there any kind of tricks to solve this?

Once in a while mine gets that way as well. I usually have to turn the steering wheel and that releases whatevers locking the key

It's probably the steering column lock. Move the steering wheel left or right slighty to unock it and turn the key.

its the steering wheel lock which is good cause its harder to steal ur car that way. jus turn the steering wheel to the direction u last turned it before locking it and at the same time, make sure key is in the ignition and turn it on then it should work.

Yep, no offense, but cars have been that way for 40 years

Seriously though, just take some of the pressure off of it by turning the wheel. A little tip: dont park it with the wheels turned and it wont happen.

Yup that'll work. This usually happens when I bump my knee against the steering wheel while getting out of the car.

I was at the grocery store and and my key wouldn't turn. I tried for a good 3 minutes and was about to call and have my 2nd key brought out and then I turned the steering wheel and heard it "unlock" and called myself a friggen idiot and started the car.

Yeah, I've done that a few times as well. When my friend first got his Integra he drove it to school and the key wouldn't turn. It took him close to 10 minutes to figure it out.

Default Snarky Answers

Usually, when someone asks a serious question, they really want a serious answer....their question isn't 'stupid' to them, so why can't SOME people on this forum be respectful of those who aren't 'know it all' know nothings?

My questions are serious. I am not some dumb bimbo. I'm a grandmother who also raised a grandson, and have driven numerous different cars in my life.

And no one really thinks you and your ilk are as funny as YOU think you are.
