Default LA to Vegas MPG info....

OK I've driven up to Las Vegas and back to LA with my TC 2 times. On the first trip to Las Vegas i got about 26 MPG not sure average speed. On the way back I was in a hurry so my average speed was roughly 85 - 90 MPH and got a wopping 22 MPG =( Then yesterday I drove from Victorville to Vegas at about 80 - 85 MPH and got 23 MPG .... argg... So I Thought about what RPM the VVTI kicks in and decided to try to stay under 3500 RPM which is about 75 MPH. So I filled up and headed home and got a outstanding 33 MPG which I have never gotten with this car in 6 months lol I usually average about 26 MPG on normal driving. So the moral is stay under 3500 RPM... heehee

That is good info, however VVTI doesnt "kick in" per se.

It just changes the valve timing based on throttle position and driving speed etc.

So basically the info you showed here says that the valve timing past 3500 RPM changes to a richer air/fuel ratio thereby lowering your MPG.

Good info!
