Leaving the tC as-is/unmodded.
I realize the tC is marketed as a car for "customizing" but frankly, I think it's pretty damn hot as-is. I think the body is sexxeh, the performance and handling are great for the money... especially for driving in a large city (where it doesn't matter how many HP, spoilers, etc you have.. yer gonna sit in traffic or go 80mph max).
I plan on leaving my tC alone. Why mess with a good thing, I figure. I realize it's a fun hobby for those who mod their cars, and I respect that. I enjoy looking at other people's creative ideas, and appreciate their work.
I'm assuming that most of this board mod their cars. I'm curious as to how many here plan on keeping it close to factory.
I may get some curb-feelers...

I definitely think it is nice just the way it is.. but I also love tinkering with cars, so there is no telling how much I will spend down the road. Most likely around 3-4k after the first year due to adding a turbo or sc. I really plan on taking my time with it and making it a project car in a couple of years. Absolutely no body kits, wings, fake canards, etc going on it (to each his own, but that stuff doesnt appeal to me). I plan on doing nice, clean interior and performance mods. But nothing wrong with keeping it stock either, it is a great car either way!
I voted over $3000. Although I'm not addings tons of things to my car, I am adding a turbocharger, which alone costs over $3000 not including other upgrades I gotta make (clutch, stickier tires, exhaust) other than that I might lower it a few inches, and im going to spray paint the stock rims.
Yea I am definetly dropping well over 8000... With Supercharger, Coilovers, full stereo upgrade, new header, exhaust, cynlinder head, new clutch and flywheel, new rim and tires, and I have already put 1,500 ugrading stuff and buying a temp. sub setup...
Over $3000 is my vote. The supercharger alone will top that.
Also, the entire audio system will be replaced. The stock is very nice for stock, but I'm an audiophile and want to totally replace everything. My dealer is going to custom install a sub under the rear floor mats. http://capitalscions.com/Specials-New.aspx That's what they are going to do, but an even cleaner install now that they've practiced a few times on other cars. New headunit then new main speakers. Probably will get a double din dvd player with navigation abilities.
After that, a cold air intake and then wait for the TRD supercharger(or wait for money to build up if it is released soon). Possibly new flywheel and/or clutch depending on the added power and needs of the supercharger. Maybe headers or other boltons to the engine.
It will be my daily driver so nothing extreme and also no hideous external mods. I need to keep the gas mileage reasonable and NOT be a cop magnet.

I voted $0. It's a great vehicle and I agree with you about city driving. My wife and I were debating the xB or tC and I decided on the tC when she told me "now when you buy your next car, no mods, no new wheels, no new intake, no new exhaust, no new gauges, nothing." So, I guess I blew some money on some mods to my current car and it's not really any better than when stock... maybe a little, but nobody's gonna pay for them when I sell or trade it...
I plan to buy the 5spd with the side-curtain airbags (kinda sucks that to get the side-curtain air bags, I have to forego the auto dimming mirror with homelink...) and will get the windows tinted.
For the money, the tC IS awesome.
What I don't get are all the youngin's _____ing about how much more they want for their $16.5k - $17.5k. When I was younger (switch to the "Grumpy Old Man" from Saturday Night Live voice), there were no base model cars equipped like any of the Scions. We had plastic seats (and we liked it), no carpeted floors, no A/C, no stereo or CD players - nothing. My Toyota pick up had air added for $1,200 and still had no radio (and I liked it). I barely had carpeting and fabric seats, and that was because they added fabric and carpeting as standard features in '94. My car prior to that was vinyl - nasty, sticky, burns-your-butt-and-legs-during-the-summer-so-watch-out-or-take-a-towell-to-cover-the-seats vinyl (and I liked it). Though my wife and I could afford a more expensive car, why should I? Scion seems to know the value of a dollar.
If you have to ask about the Grumpy old man and the "and I liked it" comments, then check with your parents - they probably remember Dana Carvey.

im not gonna mod it too much, since im kinda low on money. the only things ive done or im going to do is s2000 antenna, tint, and TRD springs. Hopefully those wont cost me more than $1000 so i voted for $500-$999
by the way, does anyone know how much the dealer charges to install the TRD springs?? thanks

Yea I have definetly had some rides in my grandparents older cars... but I agree with you completely about people complaining over the stupidest things its rediculous any other car owners dont complain this much about the same problems people act like they are royalty now that they own a scion...
Ive spent close to 3k already...just in simple stuff. Im just doing it cause its fun. Im not trying to impress anyone or whatever. Just customizing the car to me. After I get new wheels and tires I think I am done for a while.
