ok i wrecked my car last night, sad i know. but do u think it is totaled and how much u think i will get if it is?

it is a 06 tc, 58,000 miles
trd exhaust
rear trunk lip
factory body kit

hit a drive shaft off a simi truck. the body is perfect from what u can see on the out side

blew all 3 air bags and broke the windshield.
ripped my whole exhaust off
put holes in the underside of my car about 3 or 4
ripped out e-brake cables
bent front wheel and blew tire
there is a wall infront of the gas tank and it broke the spot welds and now is up on the gas tank cant tell if it cracked the tank or not

so what do u think. i think its done

Most likely totaled if the air bags went off. Insurance will give you whatever the car is worth, proabably around 10-11k

 

Maybe fixeable. No body damage? Did it somehow slip under the bumper and not hit it? Sounds like a pretty penny to fix. I guess it depends on the KBB value.

 

yea no body damage. well little just cliped the lip and cracked the paint so they will just need to paint that

 

this doesn't make me feel as bad about f'ing my car up now

I'm going to say not totalled, but very close. Repairing the underside of a car is very difficult because of all the contours.
If there is any question about if the gas tank took an impact or not, make sure they get you a new one.

If it's totalled, sell me the factory ground effects. lol

 

usually its considered a total when the air bags deploy or the damage is more than $6,000. If you did any modifications to your car make sure you have the receipts as proof, isurances always ask for it, so you can get your money back. In my opinon its totaled even if there wasnt that much damage to it, the air bags deployed...

 

Most of the time, airbags go off due to an impact. This was more of a ripping from underneath. I am trying to figure out how they deployed. Were the wires ripped?

 

well i would equate it to like hitting a curb, a drive shaft off a semi is pretty big and going highways speeds would be enough of an impact to deploy the airbags

 

i thought there were suppose to be no more "IS MY CAR TOTALED THREADS"

Last I knew "totaled" happened when the cost of repairs exceeded the value of the vehicle...and usually if the airbags go off- You'll hit that value PDQ.

Airbags are on inertial sensors no?? Brakes plus hitting an object like a semi drive shaft would easily trip those.

yea i got some pics just got to get them off my dads cam.

This was my daily driver so not to upset about it but still sucks
should know tomm if it is done for or not.

and yea id say they went off due to how hard it hit they guy behind me said my car came about 1 to 1 1/2 feet off the ground

 

I'd have to see pictures of this thing to know if its totalled or not. But from the sounds of it, it probably will be. If all three airbags went off (@ the cost of many hundreds of $$$ to reload each one), you're looking at a few thousand bucks just for that. Not counting hours upon hours of fixing the other damage which is usually like $50-$85/hr. in labor.
