Default Lets Play, Who Knows ?? ECU/ECM

Ok well I'm looking for help cause I'm stuck and can't seam to find the what is wrong.

Ok So my ecu got frayed, I got a new used one. (after 3 weeks of waiting). Well I checked all the fuses relays. Alt. Battery. connectors. I installed the new ECU. reconnected the battery and they care cranks starts and then cuts off. the car is not holding idle. You can hear the TB oping up and trying to suck in air but dies just as it happens.

So does anyone have any ideas on what is going on ? any suggestions will help.. I would have called a dealership but its after hours now.

doesn't it have to be programmed to your car with the engine immobilizer chip?

there is a thread on here somewhere that has a link showing you bypass the stock ecu...so it is like you are piggybacking the new ecu so that the car will run..

From TSB SS003-02

Engine ECU Replacement
When the Engine ECU is replaced, ECU communication must be completed.
ECU Communication must be performed between the transponder ECU and the
Engine ECU. Complete ECU communication using the following steps:
A. Insert a registered Master Key into the ignition cylinder.
B. Turn the ignition ON (engine OFF).
C. Short Tc and CG terminals of DLC3 using Diagnosis Check Wire
(SST 09843–18020 or equivalent) and leave for 30 minutes. (See Figure 11.)
FIGURE 11. DLC3
Tc = Pin 13
CG = Pin 4

D. After 30 minutes, turn ignition OFF and remove check wire from DLC3
E. Start the vehicle to confirm successful ECU communication.
NOTE:
If ECU communication is not completed correctly, the engine will not start and DTC
B2799 will be set. DTC B2799 will be cleared after the engine starts correctly.

thanks for this post. I just found it in the book. I guess I'll make a jump wire at work tomorrow and test it out when I get home. I hope that is all that is needed. Cause if anything else is wrong with this car I'm just going to give up and trade it in..

this question is to anyone that had done this before. What gauge wire did you use to make the jump wire ?

as long as its the same ecu that was in the car you should be fine cause the key code is in the ECU already.

For anyone wondering I did this today after work. I plugged in the jump wire. had the key on for 30 minutes and car started up no problem. Now I'm just waitting for a new scan tool so I can check all the DTC Codes .

no its actually a different ecu with the reflash already done, swapping out ecu's...so i have to do these steps, also can a reflash be done prior to supercharger install without an issue or does it have to be done after?
