Some of the things people are complaining about they shouldn't be. The gas mileage is one that's standing out the most in my mind. It was advertised as 22/29 (manual) 23/30 (auto). We all know that those numbers are calculated by an EPA test, not a real world test, so people averaging 21mpg city is probably right. I drive 39 miles one way to work, with the majority of that being highway. Setting the cruise on 80, I drive about 400 miles a week and average 24.5mpg with a manual. Yea, this is worse than some other 4bangers, but the car is aggressively geared with a much larger displacement 4cyl than some other cars. I've got 5000 miles, and only had a minor issue with window squeaking after I got my tint on. The dealer changed the weatherstriping and it's fine now. I had what I thought was a rattle but it turned out to be my bag's zippers making noise. I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase, even more so when people say they thought my car cost well over 20k.

I'm worried about my brakes.... everytime I pull out of my driveway they sounds like they're grinding or scraping on something, and sometimes they squeal. I only have 3300 miles on it, could the brake pads be worn already??

The squeal is not uncommon at all these days unfortuanately. The new compounds used to make the pads cause them to be inherently squeaky sometimes. I use a technique that my father (a mechanic) has used, with very good luck. Purchase a good anti-squeal spray, one that is made to spray on the rotors, not the pads. Take the rotors off, clean them well, and use a medium to fine sandpaper to clean them up some more. Spray the anti squeal on and let it sit as directed, a good spray will actually impregnate the surface of the metal.

Next, using a hard block with the sandpaper wrapped around it, create a small bevel on the trailing and leading edge of the pads. The point it to get rid of the sharp edges.

Re-assemble. I use this method when I replace my shoes, and in between if they begin to squeal. It has proved very effective for his customers as well as me.

Hope this helps!

you should do a search or start a new topic
there must be atleast 10 topics on this
i will save you the time
most of us use the low grade b/c that is what our engines were designed for however there are a few that use middle and high.

I was hauling a computer in my passenger seat. When I put the computer in the car, the corner caught the glove box and took a bunch of cheap vinyl with it.

the stock pads are already bevelled at leading/trailing edges. i now realize what that was done for. i then read the stoptech faq on bedding in pads and wondered if doing that would stop any squeal. heck so long as you can't hear the squeal inside let em go ;P

No squealing here, but I do notice the grinding scraping sounds you mentioned.

No issues so far. I have had the car for three months and put 9,050 miles on it. WTF are people complaining about gas milage for its a 2.4L if you wanted good gas milage get a civic or hybrid car. I do admit at times it could be better but at the same time I could keep my foot off the gas to make it better.

my sunroof/passenger door occasionally creaks but that's about it. my wife's car creaks even less. both have distinct personalities, hard to explain. we both can't wait to drive them daily if i had money to burn, i'd get a third and turbocharge the living ____ out of it.
