Default List your Tc's Problems, and what are some solutions

I bought a 2005 Scion Tc in December and I have all ready the car in the shop several times to have several issues fixed!! Any help that we can provide for each other would be great.

Here are the list of issues that I have had and what has been done to fix them all before 7500 miles.

1. Hood raised up 3/4 inch near the windshield on the passenger side. The dealership had to adjust the hood.

2. Weather stripping between windshield and sunroof started to peal. The dealership ordered new weather stripping but upon replacement shattered the windshield and had to replace that also.

3. Glove box was rattling. The dealership replaced the glove box bc it was deformed.

4. Sunroof was rattling. The dealership said there was a tsb on it and fixed it.

5. Sunroof recall

6. Brakes started squealing. Dealership resurfaced rotors

7. And everyone’s problem, my rear hatch rattled like crazy. Dealership replaced all of the panels in the rear hatch.

You mean like this:

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=89149

Though most of your issues aren't anything I would consider "common". Specifically, 1, 2, 3, and 6.

I feel a lock coming from our lock-happy moderator!

I wish my dealer would replace all the rear panels in my hatch tho. They just adjust the striker / latch... but I swear my damn panels creak and make other noises.

One of the reasons i started a new trend was because there are issues out there that are not common and they need to be addressed also. I am not trying to that shouldn't be done, but most of my issues were never have been mentioned or addressed.

The one thing I think is important to note is that your issues haven't required some random "fix" that someone figured out. Your dealer figured it out and took care of the problem.

Now some dealerships are better than others, but the point I've been trying to make to people (and in that thread I posted) is that you need to go to the dealer and try to do something about the problems.

Any fixes posted here on SL that someone developed themselves should be used as a total last resort. Nothing more. They should never be the first things people try. The dealer should ALWAYS be the first stop.

I have tried and tried to get data together.. not for fixes per se, but to see what production numbers fall into what categories and to see if some good data could be compiled, correlated and sent to scion. But I still have not recieved much info at all.. so not near enough for correllation. Here is the thread:

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...r=asc&&start=0

I still dont have the issues, but feel that makes me more impartial overall which is what I was trying for.

I am not saying this to be the case, but still a possiblity. A front end collision? I used to inspect car's for a company that delt with fraud. I have seen cases where the car has had some cosmetic work, usally related to delivery(minor stuff). That being said if the hood adjustment and the window trim were in the same area? Well Maybe the dealer need's to check deeper? The rattle's are all covered here and with some patience you will track them down. The sunroof? No problem's since the fix and we drive our's plenty. Brake's? We have had no real brake issue's. All in all I love our's it's a great car!

nope no collision at all. The dealership said that the hood just needed to be adjusted and they have no idea what caused it to raise up.

the thing is that the window trim and hood are no where near eachother. The window trim was at the top of the windshield and the hood was the corner close to the passanger side windshield/fender.

i think this thread should be kept or at most, merged with the other.

my problems:
brake pedal was making clicking noises when depressed - dealership replaced the brake light switch

sunroof was making a gear whirring noise when retracting. entire sunroof was replaced because it had excessive clearence for the bearings...(thats what my document says anyways)

i also have concerns with my tranny that have yet to be addressed because they wouldn't touch my car until i removed my engine damper

Would a strut tower brace help to keep my hood from raising up again? I talked to my service advisor and she said that since I live down a nice winding road that might of caused that panels to shift and the hood to raise up. So I asked her if a tower brace would help and she said that she didn't honestly know.

You REALLY need to find another dealership. I wouldnt let those people work on a bicycle. But I am sure they are all "certified"... scary.
