lock button x 3 = panic?
hay all,
i just got my new tc on thursday & i love it. i am noticing an odd behavior however. if i lock the car with the button on the key, it locks & beeps. i can push the button again and it locks and beeps again. ok, normal so far. if i hit the lock button a 3rd time the panic alarm goes off!?
seems weird to me. is this normal? i do have the scion security installed.
thanks in advance, and thanks for letting me lurk on your site while i was doing all my research ;)

upon further inspection & research it doesn't even matter, i have been screwed and i do NOT have scion secutity. i have some cheap ripoff because it does not say "scion security" it is just a generic blinking light.
i am going to go in there and raise hell monday morning.

whoa wait...
if you only have the stock system, then it should NOT be beeping in the first place
the blinking light below the HVAC **** on the left is for the engine immobilizer
good luck with the dealer. Also, yea, why pressing it 3 times anyways? Once is enough. One press, one flash of the lights.

Alot of dealers do not install Scion Security.
They install alarams through SouthWest Dealer Services and it is usually a KARR alarm.
This alarm beeps as well as many other aftermarket alarms...just like with other cars.
Scion Security does not beep and if you don't have an alarm, then all I can say is duh.

From my experience, only crappy car manufactuers, like ones that like to wire things to the stock head unit so that you can't get an aftermarket radio, have no alarm and it still beeps like there is one i.e. Ford Mustang

i know, i know, i only need to press the button once, but i would say i am somewhat ocd and i used to repeatedly lock my golf all the time too.
i sort of like the beep that come on toyota's.. if u really wanna change it then just go back to the dealership and he HAS to change it, but i "guess" scion security is the same thing just without the beeps... instead maybe u should get the difference between the alarms
Yeah he probably has the Karr security system. It actually has more features for the money. All those settings are configurable like if you want it to beep when arming or unlock the doors when you turn the key off. Find out if there is a manual in your packet of stuff in your owner's binder. If not, just go talk to the dealer and they can put you in touch with the right people or get you the manual.
