You can't tint your front side in CA. But I know many ppl tint their all windows and not getting pulled over by cops. I would go 35% or 50% front and 15% rear and back, so hopefully some stupid cops don't realize that I have tint on front (well, that's my hope )

why is amount of tint in the state a law?...it prevents skin cancer haha...as long as you can see outside that should be good enough.

Ideal tint set-up in Cali;
5% Hatch and 35% all around. (Except the windshield of course! )

I go to L.A. a lot to visit fam/friends and haven't gotten pinched yet. Although I currently have 20% on my Hatch, if I could do it all over again I would definitely go with 5%.

cops usually wont pull you over for a 35% unless they're ____ed off.

i guess it depend where you live. i hear west LA police pull over alot for tint. i guess its because so many rich people drive tinted-out luxury cars out there.

50% all round would be the safest bet. i got 35 front, 20 rear.

I have 20% all around for me. I got pulled over once and I got lucky cause I didn't get a ticket. I kinda wished I got 35% in the front now.

Default tint

Do u like that "dark" look? where it's hard to see into the car?? or you just want some shade over ur glass?? I have 15% all around..i HAD 20% but then i got pulled over...i had it taken off and went even darker...that tint ticket is BS. it costs $10 to fix ...so pointless....Cops generally don't hassle u for the tint unless they r total a-holes. I say you go 15% all around...oh and don't put 2 different shades of tint on ur car...i personally thinks that looks ugly! if ur gonna tint..tint the same all the way around. =)

Definately for safety reasons for the police. As much as we can get mad at them, they're playing russian roulette every time they pull a car over. With dark tints, they can't see if you're pulling out a gun or stashing drugs. Don't be surprised if you get pulled over with dark tints, and the cop comes to your door with pistol in hand. He's just being prepared for the unexpected.

yup... also why its a good idea to turn on your dome lights at night when you get pulled over. Safer for everyone.

Got any pics of your 15%? I dont want the whole "you cant see in my car" look, its just when I'm driving and the suns blaring outside it gives a nice glare into the corner of my eye which sucks, and when people use their high-beams on the freeway
