Default maaco????

Ok i just got my lip kit in today. I have been looking and researching paint shops around where i live and i cant find anyone that seems to do scion paint.

my question is would you trust maaco to paint a lip kit? im not talking about the cheap 300 paint job. i mean actually have them sand it, paint it, and clear coat it.

and another question is would u trust their ability to match the color?

what do you mean you cant find anyone who can do "scion paint" arent the colors toyota factory colors. a legit body shop should be able to get the paint from your "toyota" color code and match it. If Maaco can do it, then most body shops should be able to do it. i wouldnt trust Maaco imo. keep searching.

X2^^ yes it means scion too since toyota makes scion remember. just give them your color code "3R0" and they should be able to match it.

me and friend went to maaco to paint his GC8 and he got a full body paint and not only did they over charge him for little details. but they did a BAD job and the paint i know will start fading, bubbling, or chipping within a year...i cant believe my friend paid for it without complaining

Last year I got a new rear factory bumper from the dealership for my 07 TC, this included painting it for under $500 total and was done within a day. Other shops were asking $550 - $700 and wanted to keep my car for 3 days.

You may make out better then you think at the dealer if it's just a paint job. Dealerships are hungry for work just like everyone else.

depending the paint used you could possibly trust them, but prepping the part i wouldn't unless you personally know the person doing it. call the local toyota dealer and see who they use for their collision repair.

i would pass on Maaco.
ask around in your area and see if anyone knows of any reputable body shops, also make sure you see some of their work and maybe even stop by the shop to check out what theyre workin with/in.

I would find a local shop other than maaco.... I worked on my rs-1 lip for awhile fabricating and sanding down the fiber glass, and painted it, didn't like the way it came out. Went to a auto shop who did custom trunks and ish with fb glass and they referred me to this chevy body shop/collision repair thing. I got the guy's number, and paid him under the table. He sand blasted my lip, sanded it down smooth, and painted it for only $150 and they job is an exact color match, and no orange peel, couldn't be any happier.

if your looking to get a whole lip kit painted for $150 then you might as well stop looking.

the only way your gonna get it that cheap is if u have connections at a bodyshop, your sponsored, or you DIY.

*shudder*

I let my mum have her '90 Ford Tempo painted by Maaco, but Scion owners don't let Scion owners get their cars painted at Maaco...

Very simply not just "NO," but "HELL NO!"

Times like these when I'm very happy I know how to paint. Cost of supplies...$60-$85 for a full body kit to be painted. Once you get the hang of it, it's extremely easy.

stay away from maaco!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

back in the day i took cutlass to them to prime and paint a front bumper. simple enough, right? there was overspray on the entire car from where they didnt' cover it, and the paint and primer flaked right off in less than a year.

i'd prime and paint it myself before i took it to maaco.

but then again, that's just my .02.

I trust Maaco to paint a lip kit.

Simply specify that they use the Toyota genuine paint and they will. Most likely they would anyway since they're trying to match the stock paint.

I took my car to Maaco to get a small dent out in which they had to remove the touch up paint and re-paint it as well as blend the paint so it matched the existing paint and they did an excellent job. BTW, my tC is SW.

Also, they repaired a dent in my rear bumper thanks to someone who couldn't park. It was scratched pretty bad and dented, they repaired it and painted the bumper, good as new and blended it so it matches perfectly.

They did charge me an extra $40 since they had to get the paint from Toyota.

Another paint shop wanted $450 just for the small dent in the door. I imagine I would have paid a total of $1000 for the bumper as well. Maaco charged me $300 to do it all.

With that being said, all Maaco's are not the same. I have heard some horrible stories about Maaco. I trusted them because when I wanted my 1st car painted they charged me $500 to paint the car the same color it already was and they did a terrific job. That isn't to say I wasn't scared when I took in my tC that the slightly 'retarded' customer service guy kept saying 'oh, that's your To--YOTAAA'. Strong emphasis on 'AAAA'

Do your research on Maaco, find others that have taken their car to the same one you plan on taking yours too. If they have good experiences then I would say go for it. Also ask them about if they eff it up, will they repaint it to your standards without charging you extra. Ask them about the paint warranty, I know I got one every time they painted mine. Also, check with other Maaco's in the area and get quotes from them, you'll be surprised how much they differ from shop to shop.

Oh and when I got mine done I needed a way back home so I drove the car and one of their employees drove it back to Maaco. Waiting on her to call me when she made it back to Maaco were the longest 5 minutes of my life.

The one negative I have and they did it both times. The first car I had was a Dodge Stratus and the Konig Hotswaps just were released and I had them on the car before I took it in to be painted, they just mounted them the day before. Maaco said they would wrap the tires, when I picked my car up there was silver overspray on my new wheels. Needless to say Maaco spent the better part of 6 hours with paint thinner cleaning off my wheels.

On the tC there was overspray from the bumper that got onto my exhaust. It was the stock exhaust so I didn't bother since I changed it the next month.
