manual and the shoes you wear?
So i recently bought myself a pair of aesics. they have a moderately thick cushiony sole. My old shoes were a pair of diesels that had like a quarter of an inch between your feet and the ground of support.
After driving a bit with the aesics i've seen a noticeable different in the way my foot feels on the clutch, how its sits, how i depress it and i guess ultimately how im driving.
The new aesics feel weird to drive with, its not new shoes syndrome either i've had em for a month or so and i've gotten used to them.
With my old diesels however i felt like my foot was able to feel the clutch better and grasp it easier. I would depress the clutch more with the top of my foot and my toes than with my leg like i now do with my aesics.
am i being ridiculous and going overboard in the influences im attributing to my shoes on the way i feel the clutch? or is this an actual...concern i guess with other people who drive stick when they go shoe shopping?
what do you guys prefer, thin shoes or thicker soled shoes?
-nick

lets see ... I cannot drive in flip flops. I just kick em off and drive barefoot too
#1 shoe to drive in ... an old pair of adidas sambas left over from my soccer days, that I've had since I was 15

lets see ... have a pair of new balance and a pair of addidas track/running shoes, also left over from the high school days, that are pretty comfy to drive with. Along with my sketchers shoes, kinda like the doc's, that are nice and softened up over the years.
what I dont like driving in ... have a pair of polo jeans/ralph lauren shoes/boots/things. I bought them for a funeral, and they're now my everyday office shoes, and they are super static electricity conductors...those are hard to drive in. I've gotten used to them bc I wear them just about every day.
buuuuuuut ... my sambas are #1, by way. closest thing to barefoot withou being barefoot

I wear the classic Vans slip-ons.... the soles are nice and thin which makes it easy for my toes to feel the pedals. I feel like I have more control of the car when I wear them.... besides... the checkerboard pattern is very racey!

oh man, i tried driving w/ sketcher and doc martin boots: can't do it. can't feel the clutch, and I'll end up bucking like a mule. so I have to take them off and drive in my socks. sneakers, on the other hand, are no problem.
maybe its because I'm new to driving stick.....
