manual tranny..reverse grind
Alright.... I was backing out of a friends driveway the other day. I was rolling back and tried to put into reverse (yes, I pushed in the clutch). It just grinds. So, I hit the brake, come to full stop..try again. Works fine. So, I've tried a few things... going forward..fully depress clutch...go through gears...only reverse grinds. Now, mind you..this is all with the clutch fully depressed. Even while in reverse..I'll stop, put it in reverse and go without problem. Press in the clutch, go to neutral, press clutch again and while trying to go into reverse, it grinds. This is a 2006 tC. Does reverse have no synchro? Is this a common thing, or does this need some attention?
Hi !
The grinding is because they are no syncro on reverse
(also why it is so hard to engage when moving)
The whining when you back up is because de gear are straight cut
(but only on manual trany)
Now
I have a question that one teacher I had asked us AND didn't have the answer (bastard)
Why are the reverse gear straight cut ?
Take care
