Default Might need a tC now what do you think my chances are?

Well due to some circumstances i might be needing a tC in the next 2-3 weeks. I originally had planned to wait a few months to get a down payment of around 4k, but due to a accident my plans could be grossly accelerated.

I awoke friday morning to find that my car (92 88 royale LS) had been slammed into by a local high school student, who had neglected to scrap her windshield(first major frost of the year here in Southeast PA) Managed to get all the insurance information and what not. I'm still baffled how anyone can run into a parked car that hard. She seriously had to be going 25-30 at the time of impact and my car was the ONLY car parked on the street within 2 or 3 blocks

My question is what do you think my chances of getting a tC on short notice if my car does get totaled (probably a 60/40 chance from what i and my father, sold auto insurance for 25 years, have seen) I'm flexable with colors and airbags but it has to be an auto.

I've looked at local inventories online and right now i've found only 2 tC at over 10 dealers. Anyone have any inside info for Southeast PA?

Call all the dealers that you'd be willing to drive to, ie EVERY SINGLE ONE within 100 miles and ask them if they do it based on deposits, if so, how long are the waits. if they DONT do it on deposits (you want this) then ask them what automatic tC's they have coming in within the next 3 weeks (the dealer I got mine at got about 3-5 tc's almost every week it seemed) I got the color and options I wanted (I couldve had it in 2 days but some lil punk was there an hour before me) in 2 weeks in Southern Cali where I guess the demand is extremely high. If they dont do it on deposits, ask them if you can contract the vehicle when it goes into 'freight' mode which is when they get the VIN (thats what I did) good luck and you might have to drive a ways but you should be able to find one soon.

That does give me a bit more of an idea as to where i can get what i want. What i am curious about is how accurate is autotrader with regards to inventory?

Just an update for those concerned. My ins. company(Keystone) called to day to inform that they were going to total the car. I still have to wait and see what the her ins company (State Farm) decides, they are paying for it after all. We shall see but chances are i'm going to be scrambling to find a tC by mid next week.

shouldn't be too bad, get your (her) insurance to pay for a rental car. if you can only get a standard, get it and learn on it. put the $800 towards a nice stereo...
