Default moonroof

So is it safe to drive with the moon room wide open on the freeway??

I don't want it to be flying off.

It won't fly off, but it might shatter if a rock flies up and hits it

I do... but watch for roads with lots of debris.....

I was unlucky enough to have a bird (yes, a bird) that tried to fly from the ditch across the road at the last second hit the top (back) edge of the moonroof on my saturn last year. Crazy enough, the glass lived (cracked the back edge), it is very thick on those cars... but it destroyed the track... hit the glass hard enough that it pushed the moon roof back on one side and broke the plastic retainers. So $1600 later I could drive without getting rained on! It cost so much due to the fact that saturn only sells the entire module for that model... so the part was $1300. Talk about bad luck!!

Everyone else made a point in 2 lines.....

Took you a whole paragraph to state an already beat to death fact and to top it off, it has nothing to do with this car.... lol....

the only time my moonroof is closed is when its raining, or it is parked. even if it is parked it is still cracked open. in all of my cars ive ever owned ive always had a sunroof and these things are open 24/7 dont worry about it dude..

its all good

Here's a situation...

Driving along at 75 MPH...roof open...

All of a sudden, you spot a rogue rock doing well over the speed limit

oh S&*T!! (you close the roof just in time)

whew...that sure was a close one...

I drive on I-10 all the time with the roof open and the windows down. I just keep the radio up and the speedo around 85-90. If you pass everyone on the interstate, there won't be any cars in front of you to kick rocks up.

I drive on 80 with the moonroof open all the time. I used to drive at 90 'till I got pulled over. now I set the cruise control at 70. you just have to turn the radio up some.

btw, this thread made me wonder, what's the difference between a moonroof and a sunroof? when I googled it the first page listed explained it...

a sunroof is a metal panel in the roof that opens. a moonroof is made of glass.

They are launching the tC in the UK?? Or are you getting one shipped over and have a RHD conversion done? My brother lives in the UK and is about to buy a new (company) car, if the tC is going to be available I'll tell him to wait.

I thought that that a sunroof is one that opens all the way and a moon roof is one that either pops up a little or doesnt open at all...
