Default Moonroof and hatch rattle: The problem that fixes itself?!

Well I have 6700 miles on my car now and I've noticed lately that my car's moonroof and hatch no longer rattle when I'm driving. It may make a small squeak when going over a bump but its nowhere NEAR as bad as it was last month!

The weather has been getting colder down here do you all think that has something to do with it?

i've heard the chassis make a little noise since it's gotten really cold here in michigan.. my civic made noises too when it was cold.. and just like the civic.. when the tC warms up no more noises.. i think all cars make some bits of noise when cold.. (15 degrees outside cold)

I think that it's probably either fixing itself (like breaking in).. or the cold is tightening the chassis since it's gotten cold outside.. either way.. i agree!! good news is good news

My rattle did not fix itself but the moonroof POP did fix itself. Strange.

I bought my car in early July and the moonroof did not rattle until september when I started taking the bumpy terrible roads to school. It was really bad for a while, but now that the cold weather hits, the creaks are gone.

Just started noticing the rattle about a month ago. Glad I'm not the only one experiencing the problem. I'v been wanting to take it to the dealer but everytime I'm about to the noise disappears. I'm going to take it anyway to have it checked out and documented. I have 3200 miles.

My rattles come and go.. definitely more rattles in the cold mornings. But there's a specific moonroof rattle that is very sporadic and not related to cold -- but still not constant enough to take it in.

Moonroof "pop" disapeared and hatch rattle started. It's almost comical. I think it must have something to do with the weather.

Same here,

Sunroof poping when temp is over 40, with no hatch rattle

Below 40 degrees, sunroof pop goes away, hatch rattle starts

With the cold Minnesota winter days/nights in full effect now, I've been blessed with both the hatch rattle (passenger side) and the popping windshield/moonroof sound. My tC now usually goes "pop" once every trip - it sounds the same as a small rock hitting the windshield. And the hatch rattle is pretty bad until the car gets warmed up. Opening my hatch the other day, I noticed that the grey plastic had rattled itself loose. I pushed it back into place, and it seemed to stay. But the rattle continues.

I haven't been keeping up on these things, so forgive me if this has been talked to death, but are Scion dealers aware of the hatch rattle and moonroof pop, and do they have a procedure to fix either of them? Thanks.

Yes, there is a TSB for the moonroof rattle (BTW, when they did the TSB they still heard the rattle and the guy did something else which fixed it; not sure what he did but it has been two months and no problems).

The trunk rattle is something else. I don't think a "fix" has been posted by Scion. I still have back rattle but it is very minor and with the music, I don't hear it.

I took picked up my tC on 12.28. No rattles in the sun roof or the trunk. Fingers crossed, I hope they did the fixes at the factory. Have any of you people with rattles that fixed themselves had your rides in for servicing? Maybe its is SOP to retrofix those items even if you don't ask. Unless I got it all wrong in Science Class stuff contracts with cold --- and expands with heat.
