Default moonroof wont open after battery change on my 06

its been racking my brain. i looked over alot of threads on resetting the passenger window and resetting the moonroof. i was able to reset the passenger window but how can i reset the moonroof if it doesnt open? i hear the switch click twice when i hold it the button on close but still no moonroof motion. just find it funny that it stopped working completely when i unplugged the battery. can the motor go bad by unplugging the power?

Silly question but did you check the fuse? The moon roof is on a separate fuse from each door.

Ok I just re read your original post and now I'm confused, is the moon-roof open or closed. You said that you can't get it to open yet you are pressing the closed button. That sounds like someone pushing open a pull to open door so I know I can't be reading that right.

More than likely you just haven't gotten the reset procedure done correctly. I always struggle with that and I remove my battery more often than I would like to admit. However if the moon-roof is actually trying to operate then something mechanical could be wrong. I don't think the motor would be my first check, I think I would look for binding on the track or drive mechanism first. If it's stuck open and won't close but making all the noise to try to close then it could be some foreign object has gotten into the track.

If you have to, give the glass some persuasion by helping it and pushing it open. Might help get past something small. But I guess it could damage it, but probably won't.

Either that or the sunroof cable itself snapped somehow, I remember replacing a few of those at my dealership
