i was kinda thinkin along this line...but also how could scion not expect people to put audio system upgrades in their vehicles.. after all the name brand was created for those especially into car customization. i'm glad i just bought an 05 instead of an 06 cuz i wonat have useless audio controls that look outta place on my steering wheel. this seems like the most non essential upgrade if i've ever seen one.
steering wheel controls are a very desirable feature which started a few years ago on luxury vehicle, and slowly being introduced on more mainstream cars. This feature has proven to be very useful and popular (for many reasons, which may not be obvious to someone like you who never used it) and are considered almost essential nowadays on the high end cars. I applaud Scion for bringing it in to this class of cars where it is still rare.

Make sure to update with the 2006 HU. Want to see the new design with the input plug.

IMO, i would like to have the audio controls on the steering wheel instead of reaching all the way over there to change tracks on my CDs..do any of yall feel the same way? they put the tuning button farthest away..and then i'd also prefer a **** for volume controls..the way i see it, thats where scion messed up a little making the audio for the 05s not very driver oriented. and about the audio controls on the steering wheel, i also think it sorta looks a little tacky. i think if they designed it better (having the buttons line up vertically instead of horizontally) it'd look a lot better. but to the 06 owners, its better then nothing!

no, it's not just you. i totally agree. the steering wheel controls look cheap and out of place. they look like they were a half-baked last minute idea addition that they thought up the night before the final changes for the 06s were going to be finalized. it would be nice to have them, but not looking like that.

whoa, sorry all late w/ my replies everyone, my internet died for about most of the day, now this thread is not up2par! fyi, this is all plain stock, a gift from my mom, and a long-time comin', considering i haven't had a car in 3 years. i will try to answer everyone, thanks for the compliments/Q's!

Did you get the iPod inputs? Or just stock HU?
ok, i will take more pics of the 05 HU and then the 06 HU. no, i didn't get ipod inputs because i have an iRiver, which is a better DAP imo, but for some reason it doesnt work thru the AUX input...(i think it's cuz there's no AUX button? i know the 06 HU has an AUX button...)

you know what, i'll be honest. it DID look like they were kinda slappin things here and there...when my tC came in, my dealer told me that they were workin on puttin in the HU there, just had to test drive it and finish paperwork, etc, etc. i'll be sure to yell at them tomorrow...

yeah, eventually i wanna mod/add more items to my tC but im a struggling college student, with enough other bills to pay. that's why everything was stock, i need to get an alarm on it as well, anyone know a good deal in san diego?

Yeah, I agree. I definitely want the audio controls on the steering wheel. I mean, maybe it's just me, but this makes perfect sense for a car that has A COVER ON THE RADIO.

Congrats on the 06- you're obviously one of the first...

Seriously?
Wow, that seems unnecessarily brutal.

Seems to me he's doing us a favor by posting anything at all.

Default user1234 is an jerk

I'm going to have to go down to a dealership and park next to a CSM. I'm really interested to find the difference in colors. Have fun with your new tC dude.

It seems that all of user1234's posts in this topic have been rude in one way or another and directed at specific people.

hmmm, i appreciate your honesty, inasmuch as i will admit the pictures look pretty hazy, the weather in san diego (believe it or not) has been pretty bland. also, i am working on gettin parking at my apartment, so most of the time the pictures are in the aparment complex garage. im pretty sure i apologied for the quality of work i've put in. idk what problem you really have (or you're just blunt all the time) but a lesser person would have flamed you. good day.
