Default My DIY Video For Tinting A Scion TC

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BscsOpqo6e4

Hello all, fellow Scion Tc owner here showing you all how to not spend $150+ tinting your Scion and also having the proudness to know you did it yourself and it looks great!! Hope everyone enjoys and if theres enough interest I will do another DIY on how to tint the back windows and rear window, and maybe a DIY Tach conversion when I get the time. Comments are welcome!

P.s- Sticky...?

Great job! To me that is something that is well worth paying a pro. I can imagine the rear windows and the hatch would be a major PITA.

Ok, i just got done watching your Video.. OMG.. do you do that professionally, because as long as i have been tinting, i can point so many things that could be done better.. you forgot so many steps.. like when do you heat the fingers out???

Don't bother doing a DIY on the back window.. i might laugh... do you it in 1 piece or 2 or 3.. what method you performing.. wet method or Dry method when shrinking.... it is nearly impossible to do wet method for a back window. And take s a professional to do it the dry method.

My final thought.. you cannot try a tint just by a DIY from someone doing it.. takes alot of practice and patience working with tint.. especially doing the back window. I have been tinting for 10 years now professionally for my work, and from just you DIY, you need to explain more and your steps are butt backwards.

Sorry to threadjack, but its not as easy as it looks guys

That is nice diy video. Do the others on the back windows and hatch. I dont really want tint, but if i could do it myself i would do it.

If someone follows it step by step, the fingers step comes after everything is cut to size and doing the final inspection before putting it on the inside. I've had this video for awhile on my comp that I shared with a lot of friends and only recently decided to upload it to youtube, all but one of my friends were able to follow the vid and do a perfect job tinting their windows without anyone elses help. Sorry mate if you think its a bad DIY but since your a professional you will no doubt have problems with other peoples work.

i wasn't saying that it was bad.. but kinda directions were different and can see issues at hand with the way its cut, but i can tell you back windows can't be learned in a couple hours.. took me 6 -7 months before i was comfortable doing back windows in 1 piece

yes, but you have to use the outside window to cut out the extra pieces... so yes its like a template for the inside windows since techncally its the same size and you don't wan tto get your interior all wet right? and it would be harder to cut on the inside

Well why don't you share how you did it. Do the tint rolls come big enough to do one large piece? i dont want to pay someone $150-200 to install something that cost $60.

The place I buy all my tinting needs is TAP Plastics, which does sell a large piece of tint to cover the back window, unfortunately it only comes in %5.

BlckdOutTC- Yes you do put the tint on the inside of the window, thats why I show you how to remove the weather stripping. You use the exterior of the window to cut the tint to shape then peel off the liner and move the tint to the inside.
