My first Auto X event!
Was earlier today at Mineral Wells Airport, in Mineral Wells Texas. It was one of the funnest days of my life. Great first time experience and a great surprise my car turned out to be. It was me, my friend Jack in his s13 and my other friend Ryan who rode with me out there, we woke up at 5:30 am and drove out west for an hour and a half to finally reach Mineral Wells. We walked the track twice, once by ourselves and another with a national champion as an instructor, who helped allot. Not gonig to go into too much details but I had a totall of six runs. I went from my first run of a 97.5 to my last run of a 91.1. Compared to other cars using street tires I ran faster than most other cars. I'll link the site with the times once they have them up. The track was horrible on my tires, it was a mixture of concrete and gravel mix and the 615's didn't take to well to that. But thats done with, here are some pictures.

Just look at the difference between my front tires and my rears. Here are the fronts:

You can see how the rubber has a weird mush effect on the outside of it, there are also plenty of visible scars on them. And here are my rears:

Pretty clean might I say. The car is also 100% bone stock other than the 225/45 615's and the tein ssp's which I ran at 13 clicks all around troughout the race. I did have a problem with fuel starvation in a very long, double apexed turn. Right towards the exit of the turn the car would bog down for a half or even a second, then pick right up after that. I had a 1/2 tank of gas btw, so this was a surprise.
Good stuff[/list]

The turn out was kind of small for what I heard it usually is. There where 2 other events being held in town so we only had a crowd of about 40 cars. In my sts class I placed first. BUT there where only two other cars in that class. My friend in his s13 who had a best time of 101.3 and a 91 civic si who had a best time of 105.3 or something like that. my best time was a 91.1
I know for a fact that I ran quicker than four or five other miatas and a white rx8 who had a best time of 94.4. They will have the times up tonight on the site. I'll post up the link so you can get a better idea.

I wish there was a solution for the fuel starvation, now and when I still had the tC, because the few times I tracked, I noticed the fuel cut in faster turns. I think some custom tubing/welding is in order for the people who are serious about it.
Yeah even with the coilovers I still think that the sways would help our tremendously. As long as I kept my foot work right the car seemed to rotate excellent and the car nailed it on the slalom.
As far as the fuel problem goes I don't think I want to spend money on that just yet. Most logically I'll just try and have more gas next time I go, even though that means more weight and slower times.
I got owned by the sun though, working corner #4 for 2 hours gave me the biggest farmers tan ever. My face hurts so much too.

Here are some more pics, these are off of my myspace so they MIGHT not work. Little lazy to have to rehost them somewhere else right now.
