That sucks.

I highly recommend Zaino products. I've used tons of stuff and nothing has work as good. Go here for more info...

Wax doesn't fix scratches.

You need to POLISH them out, then wax to protect your paint.

I have a scratch on my side door..if i do a 3 step would that work....meaning
Step 1. Clay Bar
Step 2. Meguairs Deep Crystal Polish
Step 3. Meguairs Gold Glass Clear Coat Wax

Will that make the car look good? and possibly remove my door scratch with the polish?

depends on how deep your scratch is. if its hairline, then that should take care of it.

People in Philly just don't know how to park.

That stuff just does not work. I tried it...it's just a waste of time. Maybe for other scratches but it didnt work for me.

Haha, you could always take it back to them, pretend like nothing is wrong, and get it washed again. Then, before you drive off the lot, freak out and be like WTF!!!!!!! Pretend like it just happened. Ask to speak to the manager, and tell him you are holding Hoffmans responsible, and demanding that they pay.

Here is the best place to get advice on how to remove them. I go through this every 6 months.

I guess it just depends on the scratch?...

I've used neither Zaino or the clay bar products, but having owned the Buick Reatta - and visiting the forum for it - those 'in the know - and show - and compete' with their cars swear (in a good way) about both these products for paint care. And, like many of you, these people are fanatics.

It seems that with the number of people who are having issues with paint that someone wouldn't be looking into having their hoods (or whole car) "repainted" with clearcoat. I am not sure how much a shop would charge to do it but it should be less than a standard paint job; clean the finish, sand, mask, and spray. With all the work that people are going through to take care of damaged areas on their tC's due to "soft" clearcoat, I would think that it might be worth the money to get a good quality, thick coat of clear applied.

i dunno, when i got my door repainted (someone scratched it pretty deep) i asked about re-clearcoating the entire car. the assistant manager who was helping me talked me out of it saying that it will NOT make the car more scratch resistant and that it will make it HARDER and MORE EXPENSIVE to fix if i got another such scratch that i was in there to fix. The job would have cost $1500. And he said not to do it. So go figure.
