My RS4 got hit! Smaller pics/not a huge accident-don't flame
So, I was parked on the sidewalk and I go out this morning to move my car before the school hours start and I'm shocked to find this:
So, I took up a claim with my insurance company and I'm in the insurance process with the LA Unified School District. They are most likely paying for the repairs. The thing is, I'm wondering if anyone here knows what I should do to get the most out of this situation. I was told by my insurance company that I could go to my own repair place and get a quote. The LA School District Insurance Department takes like 5 business days to process my claim though so I won't be able to fix my car right away. What should I be doing right now so that I can ensure I get AT LEAST my bumper completely fixed, my taillight replaced, and some money that people always seem to get when they get in accidents?

just get an estimate for a new bumper and tail light with paint and install. getting your car back to how it was before the accident is really all you can expect from this situation. you're fortunate the damage is only cosmetic. many people will never get their car back the way it was prior to an accident.

What are the chances of getting a new bumper though? Would I be able to just get the body shop to quote me for a brand new RS4 bumper? Or would I most likely just have to get another aftermarket one and get quoted for that?

sad to see a rs4 all dented up
the bumper is a regular tc bumper, the only difference is the rs4 lip lit which in your case looks undamaged.
new bumper, rs4 paint, take off lip and install on new bumper and new taillight. might get away with installing the bumper yourself, these cars are like legos, they just snap together

Thanks a lot for the help people. If there's anything else, please let me know. I'm trying to get this over with as quick as possible but the school district says it will take 5 days.

i was expecting to see something more drastic when reading the title of this thread. sucks that your car got dented by a bus. best of luck with the repair, doesn't seem like it'd be too bad to get it back in shape.

the only way i could think of coming up with money is to do everything yourself.
when some lady hit me the insurance company cut me a check and then referred me to a place that would give me a lifetime warranty on the repairs and the whole check would just go to them.
in hindsight, if i was down for all the work that had to be done, i could have just bought the parts i needed and installed them myself (front bumper, radiator, hood)
its just less of a hassle to leave it at the shop for a few days and have it back to where it was than to try to get money out of the situation.
good luck.

I'm sorry to disappoint... Lol, SL is hard to please.
I've never been in any accident before so I'm just surprised all this happened. School district takes 5 business days to just process my claim. They are self-insured and will probably take another week after that so they can try and claim it's my fault, even though I was probably sleeping when this happened. We'll see how it goes...

its seriously about who u know in the body repair business...i have a dented front bumper, and got a check for $900 after my deductible and it only cost me $500 to replace the front bumper, bought a new lip, and had it all painted....so i had $400 to spare and got a double din headunit. the main thing was that i knew the body shop guys so instead of sending the check to the body shop to fix it, they just gave me the check

Municipalities generally drag their feet when it comes to accident claims. Remember, them telling you that it takes 5 days to process may mean it takes them 5 days to address it. So it may be longer than you think.
I feel like they do this to get people to go through their own policy and then handle things after the fact.
Make sure you get an accurate estimate. Have them take the bumper off and make sure the support isn't bent and the styrofoam is completely untouched. That would be your best bet to make a couple extra bucks. If there is even a tiny chip on the foam, it has to be replaced. You can keep the one you have and pocket the cash for that.
Otherwise, don't try to beat the system if you don't know what you are talking about.
