My scion TC has just been totalled.

Pictures are here:

After all that hard work installing my system I only got to enjoy it for about a month.
I was able to pull all my amps and the head unit from the reck, and hopefully I can get a brand new replacement TC to reinstall it all again.

These are the pics from my sound system install:

The thing that sucks is that it wasn't my fault and I really had no where to go to avoid the crash.

I was on 680 south by mission blvd in fremont california. I was in the fast lane going about 75 when about 2 cars ahead and 2 lanes over a truck lost his mattress. The car behind the truck tried to swerve right to miss the mattress but it was too late. He went over the mattress and lost control. He ended up going left and straight at the center divider and my lane. I hit the other cars front left tire dead on with the front of my car. His car was then pushed causing his driver side to slam into my passenger side pushing me against the center divider.

No other cars were involved and the only injery I have is a bump on my left hand, I think it is because I stiffened up my arms on the steering wheel. The other driver hurt his leg, but i'm not sure how bad, he was walking around.

Luckly the driver of the truck stopped and stayed at the scene so the cops could get all his information.

I'm really bumbed, I tried real hard to keep the miles low and keep the car as clean as possible only to have it taken away from me. But I am thankfull and suprized that I am un harmed. It doesn't look like any of the cabin was crushed, all the impact was to the engine compartment.

That's my story. I was very happy with the car and how it handled the crash. I will get another TC as soon as I get the money.

Rick

Yeah, I got into three accidents with my 92 camry within four weeks, one my fault and two not.

The first one, I drove back to houston from dallas in heavy traffic (6 hour drive) and that was after going out the previous night, not going to bed until 4, and having work at 7:45 until 12pm. I left at 1 pm, got there at 6:45ish and was really hungry waiting for my friends, figured I would go skoop some food but ended up almost falling asleep at a traffic light and bumped into the SUV ahead of me..., his car wasnt even scratched...my hood like it was f'd. So it looked a lil ghetto.

Went back to dallas. Was on 75 driving back from a part and got rear ended by a RAM1500, that sucked...

went to maaco got everything fixed paint was beautiful. Got the car, drove about 4 miles and they forgot to latch my hood....long story short...hood flew up smashed my windshield in while i was going 50mph. scary ____.
turned around took it back to maaco and they were like oh ____. and fixed it.

Got my car, and not even a week later the engine ____ed itself.

And there in lies the tale of my beautiful Toyota Camry 1992, one of the first of its models and built in japan.

Now I have my new tC but im still scared to drive. I always think somethings gonna happen to me.

Anyways,

Super glad that your ok.
____ happens, it wasn't your fault, and you'll be back on the road in no time.

Yea thats a bad one. Im not trying to compare, but the same thing happened to me. I was leaving my job on a friday after getting paid and cashing my check, all happy. When i take a few steps out of my building and notice a wierd shadow on my car. The closer i get the more nervous i get, because the shadow isn't moving. When i get close enough I notice that someone hit my car in the parking lot. The worse thing is that the guy just left. It was a hit and run on a parked car. All of the repairs came out of my insurance, so I had to pay the deductible. Set me back for a while. It was nowhere close to the accident that you had and there no injuries involved. Just the curse of the scion. Down here in Miami, whoever owns a tc has crashed it or had it crashed. Really suks. Hope none of you have to go through this.

not mines. i was hit on my side. didn't set off any sensors. the airbags don't work off impact they go off when certains areas of the car pushed in enough to set off that sensor. My brother crashed his ram 1500 and crushed the entire front end, but since the support beam in the front didnt bend and wasn't impacted hard enough to set off the sensor, the airbags didn't go off. ( well at least that is how i think they work!)

Sorry you had to go through cracking your car up. It's hard to react to sudden problems in the road at 75. Maybe being a little scared to drive makes sense. Try running a little slower and "Watch Out For The Other Guy" Sorry to sound like someone's dad...I wrecked a beautiful new car way back when. I hated that feeling that said "you F$%ked up boy!

Wow, that's the exact same thing that happened to me but it was on a 2 lane highway. I was directly behind the truck and this guy didn't even tie down the mattress!! As soon as I saw the mattress fly up i hit my brakes and swerved left and spun out. Didn't hit anything or anyone though..

Sorry about the car, but I'm glad you're alright man.

glad to hear everyone's ok. that's a relief.

i've totaled a 7 series on snowy roads a few years ago. 18 wheeler hit my passenger side. i didn't take any pics afterwards but the passenger side of the car ended up where the arm rest was (in the middle). thank god my g/f, or anyone else wasn't in the passenger side when it happened. there was literally no space left on the passenger side! passenger side had completely collapsed like a soda can after a punch to the side.

luckily it was a 7 series and the whole frame/body of the car didn't crunch up. i was going 45 north and the semi going 50 south. so you can imagine that's a hard impact. the crash didn't even move the truck, but it threw me to the shoulder pretty hard. if i was in a compact like my tC, i think it would of been a very unpleasant story.

it feels shocking to be in a major accident for the first time. kinda makes you worried when you don't know exactly where the blood is dripping from. that's was my first reaction. i guess at the time i didn't feel much pain, but i got the wind knocked out of me.

it sucks having a prized posession like our cars lost to an accident, especially something you worked so hard for, but thank goodness no one was seriously injured in you accident.

i also think your set up was very well done and clean. nothing else interests you besides another tC? i figure if i lost my tC i'd get something different, but i think you enjoyed your tC very much.

Sucks to hear man. I might die if I lost mine *cross fingers*

On a completely different note, can you scab anything from it before it gets totaled? I'm looking for the plastic piece that fits over the HU and a/c controls, etc, to do a carputer job.

Again, sorry to hear your loss. Maybe you can get more goodies from the ins. payoff ;)
