My tC buying experience
So when I got back to the states, naturally I needed to buy a car since I sold mine when I left to go overseas...
So, now I'm back in the states and i'm getting ready to settle in here in San Diego and need some wheels. So I cruise around looking for a car in my price range and end up at Honda. Now, since gas prices shot through the roof since I've been gone I needed something that could get me around cheap with all the driving. Anyway, I get my Si, baby it, and call around to get a turbo. So two weeks and 1800 miles later... yes, 1800 miles in two weeks, I get a letter (sellers right to cancel) in the mail saying that I need to Immediately return the car to Honda because they can't find a bank to loan me the $$$.
So... lucky for me this happens on my last day of leave. So I have 1 day to find another car, for under $20,000 that will still satisfy my needs. So I call my bank, head to scion, and find the tC I want, for a good price none the less. I get the loan from the bank, get in the car, and start driving, and boom...
The only thing I liked better about the civic was that the breaks were slightly better, factory system sounded pretty good, and the moonroof slides under instead of over.
Anyway... I love the tC, it somehow felt better on the road, and the 2.4L is nice, plus I don't have to run high octane unless I choose too... The next day I call Honda to setup the return of the vehicle and they say, "don't worry, we got a bank, your all set." Well, california doesn't have a policy where you can return the vehicle within 3 days if you don't like/want it, so now i'm stuck with a brand new scion tC and a Honda Si...
How can I afford two cars, let alone tuning both at the same time...
Well, after some help from a close friend at Acura I go to Honda and tell them since they are the ones who sent me that letter, they had to take the car back.
I threw some legal stuff in their face, told them the media would have a field day with the way they were treating a returning service member from overseas (the GM at Honda was extremely rude and told me I was stupid for buying another car when I got the letter), and that their corporate owners would catch wind of it. They took the car back needless to say. And now i'm the proud owner of a tC... the Si was very very very nice... but for the price I'm happy with the tC. Besides, I had no choice in which one to keep, Honda sent the letter, if I was giving up a car it had to be the Si... but talk about sweating bullets.

yea, free Si for two weeks, I pretty much got to drive it around till I got settled in more, i was reluctant to give it up, but i'm happy with the tC... speed cap kills me though, it saddens me to know when/if I turbo charge it, all it will do is get me to 130mph faster than without the turbo...
Most cars in the US have a limiter on top speed.
The si's braking distance is equal to the tC's. The difference you may feel is in pedal feel, but other than that it will stop just as effectively.
Enjoy the tC. Glad to hear you are back in one peice and that you got out of the two car deal!
