Default My tC might be done for...

So here is my story...

2 days ago i'm coming up to a 3-way just driving along in my tC. let me tell you that it was my very first day with my license, and everyone at school was talking about how great my car was. i was so proud because i put everything i had into getting my tC and getting it how it was. anyway, im coming to a 3-way and dont see anyone around. i come to a complete stop and look again to my left and see an old jeep coming down the road really fast. however, it is still quite a distance away. so i begin to edge out just a little and i see the girl is looking down and not looking at the road at all. she starts getting really close to the intersection and still hasnt slowed down or looked up to see the stop sign. she then gets really close so i honked and she looked up and in panic slammed on the brakes but it was far too late. she blew right through the stop sign and skid a good 40 feet before slamming into the front drivers side wheel of my tC. if she was paying attention, she would have first at least stopped at the stop sign, and second, even if she ran the stop sign she would have been able to go around me because only the hood of my car was in her lane. no one else was around, so she had a lane and 3/4 of her own lane to swerve around me. instead, because she wasnt even looking at the road and saw me at the last minute, she panicked and actually turned right into my car rather than away from it, the skid marks even show it. let me also say this was in a schoolzone (20mph) at 3pm, and she was going 45mph... all my airbags deployed and her massive old jeep was slammed into my tC. i couldnt get my own door open, so i hopped across out my passenger door and began flipping out on the 21 year old girl. ive never been so mad. because i hurt my neck, back, and couldnt hear out of my left ear, they made me go in an ambulance to the hospital. the girl didnt even get out of her car once, didnt say a word. the cop asked me what happened, and i described exactly what i am telling you. he asked why i thought she wasnt looking up, and we both agreed she may have been texting on her cell phone... which i think was exactly the reason. the cop asked her why she didnt see the sign, and she said she was looking down because she was crying and didnt even know she was speeding and didnt see the sign. that was certainly a lie, she was texting and i know it. the worst part of it all is that the car wasnt even hers, and she doesnt have insurance. this dumb b*tch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! her jeep was barely damaged, but mine took a certain beating.. ill try to post some pics, but i feel like my tC is totalled. its really bad. idk what to do with myself, ive worked and worked and every cent went into this car. i had just ordered an Avic-F90BT the night before!!!!!! i dont know anything about how the insurance and stuff works, so im just waiting and seeing right now. if you wanna say crap about how it was my fault and kids like me are the reason your insurance is high, GO AWAY NO ONE CARES. even the cop said it was her fault.

Totally sux bro. I don't know if it helps, but you could probably get her cell phone records. If she was
texting at the time of the accident, it would show up on her records. Just be THANKFUL you weren't
seriously injured! Your tC can be replaced. YOU can't!!

BTW; the links you posted do not work. Try photobucket or a similar site to post pix.

That really sucks man, sry that happened to you...

And they say guys are bad drivers with higher insurance rates. Here in Orlando, a lady or gent hit a school kid on the crosswalk because he/she was texting on his/her phone. then coming home from work one day a car hit a bike with someone on it...and I'm sure he/she was on their phone... sad sad sad these days

Man that sux. Most likley the car is a total loss due to the fact the the airbags went off. Glad your ok though. Well here in Cali we have a new law(Yes another one) that talking on your cell and/or txting gets you a nice little ticket. But anyways hope everything turns out ok

Dude, that seriously does suck. Two stories for ya:

My boss's wife was on her way home, from physical therapy no less, when some moronic teen girl slammed into the back of her going close to 40 in a 25. The girl actually had the nerve to ask my boss's wife not to mention to the cops that she had been text messaging... I hope they take her license and never give it back.

This girl in my high school got into a very serious car accident that resulted in her death. All of the kids in my school went on and on about how tragic it was, and how it was a "freak" accident. What a load of bullsh*t... It turns out that the 16 year old girl was skipping class, driving without a license (or insurance much less) in a car that didn't belong to her, nor did she have permission to use it (once again, who would let someone without a license drive their car?). She also wasn't wearing a seatbelt. On top of all of that, I think I remember hearing that the reason she "lost control" of the car was because she had dropped her cigarettes/lighter and was reaching down to get them...

I don't mean to be insensitive, but if someone has such a lack of common sense, or is just that plain stupid, I have no sympathy. That could have been easily avoided a hundred times over.

Not that that really pertains to your situation at all, it just reminded me of it. Sorry for the thread-jack dude. Best of luck getting your car fixed/replaced!

Ben

You've got a brand new car that you're still paying on, so you have to be insured. Your uninsured motorist coverage will take care of it. I dunno how Rhode Island classifies car accidents (fault, no-fault, etc.) but seeing as she was speeding through a stop sign and hit you in the door while you weren't moving, this one is her fault. Just because she doesn't have insurance doesn't mean she gets off scott free. I'd sue her.

Hey man I have lost a car in a crash that wasn't my fault before and it is not fun at all. I had to go a year with out a car, but i was in school so I made due. I didn't look at the pics. But if you have full tort, which I know in PA you can buy, you take her to court for pain and suffering and all that crap. Not sure how it wil;l work with her being un-insured. And yeah, be glad you are alive and ok. I know I see how happy I am to be alive after my crash. Oh and PS insurance companies are a _____ and if you only have a cell phone, watch your mins I ran over by the hundreds dealing with my crash. I think I spent half the money trying to get my money.

I believe he is in Rhode Island.. not cali

But I do love Cali laws... cant talk, but go ahead and text They made it illegal to text here in MN.. IMO it should be illegal to do either while driving. Punishable just below driving drunk.

Sorry to hear it man. It will work out though, and it is better if it is totalled, that way you get a new car, not a fixed one

yeah she is just a completely dumb chick... idiot. im pretty sure my car is totaled, it really sucks. the thing is that the insurance company will give me "what the car is worth"... however with how much they give me, lets say 11-12k if im lucky, ill never be able to go and buy another tC. so im just gonna start looking around for a cheap car i guess. ill try to find a way to get those pics work...

A co-worker got a fine for texting while driving. Dialogue;

Cop; "Do you know why I pulled you over?"

Co-worker; "Was I speeding?"

Cop; "No, you were talking on your cell phone while driving."

Co-worker; "I wasn't talking, I was TEXTING."

Those were my co-worker's EXACT words!

Here in Cali, first offense is $25. It goes up after that. So texting is just
as bad as talking here in my city.

what sucks is now im gonna have to be driving some grandma car too cuz my insurance is gonna go up even though it wasnt my fault at all. and about the talking vs. texting, id say texting is worse cuz ur looking at ur phone to read and stuff and not on the road.

i dont believe that is a total loss my friend. it all depends on how much the car is worth but it looks worse than it is. the cage and frame look to be intact. a new hood, headlight, front fender and door, airbags, suspension work, body work, paint....holy ____ maybe im wrong lol! well look into a celica, older WRX, eclipse gst/gsx, or even a prelude!
