My way to increase MPG
I bought a 05 scion a few months ago. the previous owner put 19in konig rims and put different springs on it to lower it. i drive on the interstate a lot i usually drive 70-80mph and at 75 mph my RPM's are over 3000rpm. i am getting about 24mpg.
is it my rims? my ride is also rough, like my old jeep. how can i fix my gas mileage problem and how can i get a smoother ride?

There is already a thread on Most MPG's.

...but on topic, my advice is momentum and gravity are your friends! If your approaching a light, use your momentum to carry you a portion of the way to slow down instead of stomping on the brakes 50ft from the stop. If you're going downhill, use gravity to pull you down. Don't put your car in neutral to coast down because when you do have to put it back in gear your RPM's will shoot up, thus using gas. Instead, leave it in drive and let off the gas. Also, when giving gas, try to use a consistant application instead of gas, let off, gas, let off and so forth.
I just went over these w/ my g/f this morning and after a few minutes/miles later her avg. mpg gauge went up from 14.8 mpg to 19.3 mpg. She has an AWD SUV and usually drives a little aggresive.

i always averaged 23 mpg since i bought my tc in june 07. recently change my engine oil and transmission fluid to synthetic Royal Purple brand. i got 26 mpg last time i calculated it!!!!!
I used a fuel cleaner once on my old car, but it wasn't actually dirty (I checked the valves before adding it... I was trying to do a before/after on a 75k mile car), so I didn't notice any difference. I ALWAYS run on chevron only because of the detergent in the gas (so far, I'm told, still better than the Shell detergent)....
I get about 285-300 miles per tank, I fill up when the needle hits the 1/4 mark. I don't have a particular shift point, and don't really look at the tach, but I do floor it every few miles. As a general rule, I shoot for 100 miles per quarter tank.

im getting around 270ish then the light comes on. so i think im getting 300 +dry but dont want to try it...lol.
i'll try cleaner tomorrow when i fill up and see if it gets any better than that. if i get 320-350 i'll be happy. shift point is at 3K usually but then how can you hold back when you are running FI.
