My Weekend Journey
Thought I’d share my journey with ScionLifers. Tried to keep it short.
Last week was pretty rough, so I decided to take off on Saturday morning in my tC, Mattie (bought it on St. Patrick’s day, thought an Irish name was needed). I left Denver and decided that west would be my direction. My first destination was Glenwood Springs, CO. This was my first trip through the mountains in the tC, and it was nothing short of amazing. For those who don’t know, Colorado’s mountains offer some amazing scenery, and some serious fun for those who like to corner, and Glenwood Canyon gave me my first taste of the Mattie’s abilities. From Glenwood, I headed south to Gunnison. The last 20 miles were over a dirt road mountain pass, and the car was up to the challenge, not a single complaint, even over washboard road. Woke up Sunday morning unsure where I wanted to go from there. Decided getting to Durango was my initial destination. Got into Durango around 3:30 and felt that more driving was still needed. Headed north towards Montrose. This has to be one of the best drives I’ve ever been on. 3 mountain passes lie between Durango and Montrose, and they are not for the faint at heart. Red Mountain was by far the best, peaking out at 12,000 feet in elevation at the summit. Coming down this pass was incredible, and nerve racking at the same time. The signs for the corners recommend 20mph, and they aren’t kidding! But even going down the hills in 2nd gear, it was still an absolute joy to be in my car. BTW, Sunday’s tank of gas busted out an amazing 39.5 mpg!! Monday was the drive home from Montrose to Denver, which was a nice finale to the trip. Final trip meter read out at 1020.6 miles, and every single mile was with an ear-to-ear grin on my face. Any of you out there within range of some mountains, hop in your tC and take a drive.

I live in Parker, and I try to get my tC up into the mountains at least every other week. This is now a luxury, given the price of gas these days. I'm really looking forward to getting up to see the Aspens turn in September. I like to park in the turn-offs on Loveland Pass and check out the stars through the moonroof.
We live in northern Colorado, and we go to the mountains ALOT! We love to drive, and having the tC has made it even more fun! So, if you see our Black Sand Pearl tC in the Big Thompson Canyon, or anywhere else, wave at us, and we'll wave back for sure! This past couple of weekends, all we have seen is xB's in the I-70 and Hwy 34 Corridors, and nobody even waved as they crossed our path at all! Hmf!

I actually meant to type BCP (one of my special moments). I'll keep an eye out for the butterfly. My IIP's got BluBat taillight, 3rd light, and mirror signals and debadged on the rear, usually runnin around Aurora during the day, live's downtown at night
