hey...if you like your tC and dont want to give it up.... have you thought about simply going to the bank and look at re-finance options? Extend your term out a few extra months can make a big difference in your monthly payment.

just my 2 cents as an idea/option.

I used too have a 03 corolla S and i loved it, the XRS model is nice and can be pretty quick and they look nice hooked up! I am biased when it comes too the 240sx since i own one hehe!! they have lots of potential and you can find nice ones for a decent price. Try checking the classifieds on www.zilvia.net, this is where I bought mine

did you finance 100% of did you put money down? depending on the interest rate you got could have negative equity in the car.

But very good point.

I have seen this first hand. It was a 2003 Saab, nice cars, fun, but man do they lose their value. Lost so much of its value that there wasn't anything there to trade with. All it did was wipe out the money down requiring more money down.

call your finance company to see if they can refinance it? tell them you want to lower your payment and they "might" be able to extend the term to lower your payment a bit? doesnt hurt to try before you have to go car shopping.

Very good idea. No need to lose money if you don't have to yet.

I was going to say a MK4 GTI. turbo and cheap. (not to maintain though). Also if your going to go with an jetta or a4 go with the jetta, parts are cheaper.

Honda CRX HF, DX, etc. 88-91 or 92 I think.

Extremely good gas mileage if you get the HF (stands for high fuel I think) - about 45-50 mpg.

CRX is very lightweight.... 1900 lbs I think. Doesn't do well in a crash test though.

Trillions of parts. Being a Honda and all. Might be a bit harder to find older parts though. but probably cheaper. You might be able to get a shell for really cheap - somebody else's project car maybe.

i used to drive a honda fit. i had the gd4 (2007) and i loved it. until black ice became my worst enemy, then i got a tC.

but the fit's are great. i dont like the new ones. they do handle very well, but they have about 90whp stock. if you drop a k20 they're like bullets though because theyre so light.

good luck!

I was able to buy interior parts for my 1990 Accord 2 years ago directly from the dealer. Even one of those friction interior panel plugs (same exact color), an air vent, and a door handle. It was like they still were producing the parts or something. They had to order them, but they came in in about 3 days. Best part is the junk yards are full of parts; I sort of miss that.

someone looking for a cheaper car payment is not going to do an engine swap on a new car. if they can't afford to keep a tc than i doubt much can spent on things like that.

Yeah but it is always nice to dream. Another issue is getting the time to do the swap on a DD. But I would assume that insurance would be cheaper on a fit.
