NEED HELP!! air condition went out at 45k...
i just got my 45k service done at the dealer yesterday. today i found out my AC died. i drove around for 15 minutes it won't blow cold air. so here are few questions:
1. where is the AC system located in the engine? how do i verify it's malfunctional?
2. am i still under warrenty?
3. how much it cost to fix the AC?
nothing major is being modified to my car. i have K&N intake, TRD catback and TRD springs, full lip kit and spoiler.

did it work before they worked on it.......???? if so they did not hook up something........go back and make them get it to work.......tell them flat out it worked fine a week ago.......then the day after they are doing service it stopped...........be a butt.
First dont "be a butt"... you have no idea if they really broke anything.. and being an **** will make them treat you like one.
Second, it could be a small thing, it could cost $1000, you cant assume it will cost $1000, because you dont know what is wrong.
Finding it the engine is not just a matter of finding one thing. You have a compressor, accumulator, orifice tube, evaporator, etc.
If you turn the AC on, do you ever hear it click under the hood? This will tell you if the system is engaging the compressor. IF it is not, then it can still be more than one thing. If they system has a leak and there is no pressure (no gas in it), then it will not turn on the compressor. If it does have gas in it, it can be the switch that is triggered due to low pressure in the system.
But really, since you dont know the system and how it works, I dont recommend trying to troubleshoot it yourself besides the basics of checking fuses and looking for wiring harnesses that have been removed.
Be nice about it and ask them to take a look to see if they obviously did something wrong. People do make mistakes all the time, you dont have to go in acting like an @$$ over it if they havent tried to screw you. Its customers like that who deserve getting screwed over.

True....do not be a butt..........but be assertive.........if it worked yesturday and does not today.......they may have blown a fuse or lost a wire........so assertive is the word I am looking for......sorry engifineer........you are right being a butt will not get them anywhere.........but it is odd.........yes

This is exactly why I got out of retail. (Was in it for over 18 years.) You're nothing more than a slave to the public. And my situation was nothing compared to what I had to deal with over the years. I feel for you bro, but nowadays customers are a lot more rude and demanding than they were say 5-10 years ago. GL in retail.
On topic; just tell them the truth. If it worked fine before you had it serviced, maybe an accident did happen. As stated earlier, people do make mistakes. Have them look at it. GL to you too.
I've dealt with a few cases where the condenser was damaged by foreign objects from the roads got thrown up into the center air dam of the frt bumper. Even small damage to the condenser that is not easily seen by the human eye can create big problems to the entire A/C system. If look thru the air dam and see signs of an oil film or an accumulation of dirt and grim around the condenser, then you obviously got a freon leak. It's unfortunate for you, but this particular situation is very common. It's as common as mistakenly driving your wheels over tons of potholes on the road (road conditions are brutal). The condenser was probably damaged months ago during the winter when you were not using the A/C. You will not notice the problem until you use the system. And now the first time you use it when the weather starts to warm up, it does not perform because of the incident that happened months ago.
If this is the case, take it to the dealership and get a price qoute (parts & labor) on that repair. Then consult your car insurance agent to see if they will cover the damages under whatever coverage you have.
