NEED HELP! - Update/Fixed!!
UPDATE:
This is an old post but in case anyone wanted to know the outcome it was simply my MAF sensor going bad and my OBD II scanner was shot. I guess having the OBD plugged in when I created the short caused it to fail and give me false readings. Good thing a buddy had a scanner and we tried that first before taking it in somewhere.
Original Post:
I just pulled out my subs today (amp, wires, everything) and now my car is not working correctly. It has a hard time starting, sometimes I have to give it gas to start, then when it does start, I can't accelerate or it will stall. Idiling seems to be fine but any fast RPM raise will cut out. It won't automatically stall but it will cut out like it's not getting enough gas. When pulling the wires out, I did create a short, which sparked a little and that's the only thing I did that may have caused this.
OBDII Scanner will not read. It just says "GM Fail". My volts for battery and alternator are fine. All cylinders are firing. Car Idles fine.
What else can I check? PLEASE HELP!!

first check any vacuum lines, but if your OBDII scanner may not work, its possible you may have damaged the ECU. If you have a friend with the same car and transmission (and if possible same year) you might be able to borrow.
Sounds like the ECU has gone into "limp home mode" (fail safe mode), and assuming that you did not damage the ECU, it will stay in that mode until the fault is removed from the system.
(This is one reason to ALWAYS remove power before fiddling with any wires...)

I unplugged the battery over night to reset the codes but nothing has changed. Scan tool still reads "GM Link-Fail". Definetly feels like it's in limp mode.
Is there anyway I can check to find out if the ECU is bad without taking to a dealer? Unfortunetly I have no friends with TC's to swap with.
