I finished up painting my valve cover + spark plug cover a few days ago and I finally got time to install it. Here are some camera phone pics..

btw I have an extra valve cover I just finished sanding and is about to get primed. I plan on selling it.. I can paint it any color you want. PM me if interested

I searched on this earlier and I thought I saw a post that said that the valve cover was made of magnesium, is this true? Is there any special precautions to painting magnesium? Could magnesium be polished? Sorry for all of the questions, I was hoping someone would be able to speak from experience, thx.

 

i believe its made of aluminum.. idk though. i painted it and its fine. I ran a previously painted black one for a few months with no problems.

That's awesome, thanks recliner15, if it is aluminum, then it can definitely be polished. Your's looks great, but I hate to copy other's ideas.

 

hey, how many bolts are on that thing? 6? i want to take mine off just to look at the engine. what preparations should i do before and after?

To take the valve cover off its like 8 bolts on the cover.. the AC line bracket has a bolt on there.. Plug wires have a bracket with a bolt on there.. And the 4 spark plugs have to come out. No prep coming off.. Putting a new one on.. Oil it up everywhere. You will see what to do when you take off the old one.
very very easy.. all of the bolts are easy to get to. All 10mm
