Default New Guy with a FM tC

Hello all, names Calvin. Been lurking and searching around here ever since I got my tC back in 09 off the showrroom floor . Couldnt stop spending money in the sound system until just now and now I'm ready for some visual mods. Thinking I'm gonna start with rims.

From what I've searched, I can fit a 18(19) x 9.5 in rear and 8.5 upfront.
Truth? I have the ground effects kit with the 18 inch Enkeis now but they are way too sunken in. looking to go flush.
any suggestions?

but main thing i just wanted was to know what are pretty much the easiest cheaper mods to do for my tC?
I've already debadged it and plan to black out the tails, and possibly change the LEDs inside...what else can I do for teh cheapz?

are those wheels all the way around or just rears? did he roll fenders? I'm assuming, since I have no drop, I should be fine with that setup too.

pics would be GREAT! can you typically run a wider wheel with the Ground effects kit? or does it not really make a difference in that regard?

also what other mods look good on a FM tC?

The lip kit wont make a difference. I'd strongly suggest getting a suspension upgrade before wheels. And I am not saying you have to slam it and be flush all at first, but wide wheels will look straight funky on the stock 4x4 suspension.

I was planning to lower it at some point. I just figured I could deal with stock suspension and wide wheels over stock wheels, lowered....that's always looked weird to me except in a few cases. Plus my parents volunteered to buy the wheels so why not? Lol

Tell them you want suspension instead. Or get the wheels now and don't install them until you get springs/coils. The car will look silly on wide wheels, stretched tires and 3" of wheel gap.

I agree with everyone above, lower it first maybe with S. Tech springs or something of that nature, then pick your wheels and tires around there. Coils are a good choice so you can raise\lower as you feel necessary, worth the investment over just springs.

Waiting for flickr to let me sign into my own account so I can post a pic :?

Hmm, some one told me to just get adjustable coilovers. Any thoughts or recommendations here?
Also still need some wheel recommendations. May do em both at the same time.

Do NOT go with Raceland/rokkor coilovers. I'd suggest BC racing, B&G, or Stance coilovers. I have a custome set of BC br type coilovers and love them. As for wheels, try to shy away from reps like xxr and rota. Just my 2¢ though.

They are cheaper built wheels being a non-forged 1 piece. That means they have the chance to bend, crack, etc. Also its a little bragging rights to say you have ccw lm20's vs XXR 521's. However, the difference in price you will be looking at is pretty extreme...

honestly, aggressive knock off wheels arent a bad way to start in the game...a lot of people run drag dr-31's because you can get them 9.5 wide for cheap.

Not really into the knock offs. My dad has MHT paragons on his s500 and my mom has the BMW 21s on her 750 so i doubt they'd even consider a knock off. dont really want something ill have to keep changing. I change audio equipment like underwear, not looking to do that with rims lol.

since they're paying, im considering it no object ,now as far as the other stuff, I'll probably be paying so money will definitely be the object! haha

so XXR wheels are out....what about Vossen VVS? TSW? need some more places to look. I'm not good at finding wheels for cars like the tC. especially since I dont want chrome at all.

If those wheels float your boat, more power to you. A lot of people here will say stick to a lot of the desirable names lie BBS, Work, Volk, Rays, SSR, Enkei, etc.
