Default New Header, Anyone used this, what do you think?????

Has anyone used or know of anyone that has used this??? I was thinking of going with the DC header but the price is right on this one. Looks very similar in design. What does everyone think???

looks like the DC or the EL Prototype, so I don't think there is a difference. But if your having second thoughts than don't buy it and get the DC one.

No second thoughts, just wondering what everyone thought and if anyone has used it. I am one of those guys that researches for a month or so before they buy something. I plan on getting header within the next few months and I am just looking at different options.

Yeah, Ive seen a similar auction before, but for a different header. I'm not sure any science is going into these header designs, I think they just make something that fits our engine.

When someone develops a header specifically for our 1.5, I'll buy that

I just put that same header on my XB yesterday. I haven't taken the pictures out of my digi cam just yet but I will post pics soon. It's a very well made header. The welds are almost perfect ( nothing is perfect). I really like the way the thing is put togeter. I haven't really driven the car hard yet , but I do feel a very smooth acceleration when I take off. I'll let you guys know when I take my trip to Poccono PA tomorrow moring.

yeah post up! I wanna know if the header itself discolors after a certain amount of heat. Our engines do rev high. Need the info! :D

Good to hear someone got one. It is a great price for a header. I can't decide if it is worth the extra $40 or so to get the DC header. On ebay they go for about $140 vs. this one that can me bought for $90-$100. Please post on how it works out for you .

They will definately discolor. Stainless ALWAYS discolors. Where you''re going to see it the most is in the elbows and at the flanges where the heat collects.

Stainless retains ALOT of heat and those headers will get ungodly hot (more so than others). It's not a big deal, you just have to make sure you tie back any lines that are close to them and make sure nothing is damaged by radiated heat.

The blueing effect is just cosmetic though.

The DC Sports headers are ceramic coated and will not discolor like that. You could also take the SS headers and have them Jet Hotted (coated) somewhere local.

So would the DC header be better than??? Does it heat up as much??? I can't see spending the extra money just to have a header that doesn't discolor a little. Which one would be better to have????

I can't say the DC's are BETTER as I know absolutely nothing about the stainless ones mentioned - other than they're SS.

I can tell you that I've had my DC header on for a good while now and I have a 35 mile commute each way to my main shop location (plenty of time to get to their highest operating temp.) and they still look exactly as they did when I installed them. Not a spot of discoloration.

I've been very happy with them. They're the only one's I've driven on a xB, so I really don't have anything to compare them against on this model.

The header mfgs don't ceramic coat stainless steel headers because it transfers 200 times less heat than mild steel. Stainless is the material of choice for top of the line headers. Stainless will discolor some but it has no effect on performance.

Again, no science just easy fit. That is a VERY good price for a stainless header.

So one says that stainless is good and one says that it isn't. I don't mind if is discolors a bit, it looks pretty nice with the blue anyway. I just want to know if one is better than the other. I have heard that stainless is good also.........I am confused

Look performance wise, they should be the same. Visual wise, DC beats it out, but the decision is up to you. I already said buy the DC, but you should make your own choice.

Thanks for your opinion, that is what I was looking for. I will just get one or the other if performance will be the same. Thanks agian.

Does anyone have dyno numbers on the DC header? How much power could it possibly be making? Has anyone actually taken the time to develop a ture power producing header for this engine? I dont think so. If you are concerned with performance, wait.

The intentions behind Ceramic coating are to retain the heat internally within the pipe which carries it away from the motor. Reducing underhood tempertures, and keeping heat flowing out. On top of the better aesthetics. I don't know about being the choice for top end headers. despite the fact that most of say Spoon, Mugen, ANR racing, and such utilize Stainless steel. which also predicts why a Spoon header for your B16 loaded Civic cost nearly $900.00 retail.

DC sports used to offer the same exact line, duplicated in stainless as well. but found that cost factors involved were bringin production down due to higher costs and less sales. Ceramic has been more or less the defined choice for most enthusiasts. But ask anyone that has a Harley Davidson bike with Chrome headers what they prefer. Many will polish them profusely.

that is correct the coating is for a reason not just for looks holding the heat in the header makes for better performance

You could always just use haeder wrap on the stainless header
