NO HEAT!! ANYONE ELSE?
I tried searching and had no luck at all, so im wondering if its just my car. I live in MA and the past couple of mornings temps were near or below 0 Degrees. SO i start my car up and turn the defroster on, but nothing happens. The heater fan doesn't even spin, so i have to suffer for a 20 minute ride to school like this. However, later in the day, when the temp is around 25, the heat works fine!!Im assuming something is freezing up but it is a real pain to deal with, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. thanks!
get remote start and have it set on full blast with the defrosters on the last time you drove your car. and when you wake up you can warm up your car and hopefully they work. lol thats what i do here in CA. lately i had it set like that since i work at 6 in the morning.
no kidding. I was in san francisco last month and everyone I met thought I was insane for wearing short sleeves and no jacket.... in 50 degree weather
it was 50 degrees colder here!
If it isnt even blowing, then yes, you have an issue. It would take some troubleshooting to find it though, so it is hard to say what it could be without looking at it.

I dont think this is a normal problem, I mean when its this cold is when I really need the heat lol. Id take it to the dealer but of course Id get the old "unable to replicate the problem" bs that im sure you have all heard. I was just hoping someone else had this problem. and yes an electric start would be nice here in MA but i own a 5-speed.
normaly doesnt it take a few min for the heat to come on as out belovid tc's work ofrr the heat from the motor, so cold motor = cold air blowing, hot motor = delicious hot air in -0 weather. hell i was glad to own a 4 cylinder this past week, it was pushing 37's in florida....
yes normally the heat does take awhile. However, it my case, the heater fan wont even turn on, therefore no air what-so-ever is blowing out of the vents. It stays this way well after my vehicle is warmed up and even still after 20 or so minutes. Then, later in the day when the temp is around 25 or so, it works fine. Im assuming the fan is someone freezing but wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem
Well, it definitely is not normal. And these electronics (or any properly designed electronic system) will work under its full intended temp range. Mine has been driving in -20F up to 104F and everything works fine. Actually, one guy drove his to alaska and maxed out the negative temp reading (which I think is -55F) .
If the fan is running, there is definitely an issue. If it were freezing up, it would most likely be blowing a fuse somewhere (motors pull much higher currents when locked up). So I would say there is a control system issue somewhere.

You should just take it in to the dealer and tell them in detail what the problem is... like what u stated that when its near or below 0 degrees the fan for the heater doesn't spin but in when the temp is "warmer," at around 25 degrees or so, it works fine.
If your dealer is good then they should at least try to figure out what the problem is instead of going straight for the "could not replicate the problem" excuse.
Hope everything works out for ya

if it keeps up ill have no choice but to bring it to the dealer, I just have to find the time. And yes normally i wouldnt drive in 0 degrees with no heat but i had no option, it sucked I had to breathe into my sweatshirt to prevent the windows from fogging!
If the fan doesn't spin, that's at least one problem. However, try this out sometime: once the engine coolant temperature reads a quarter inch over the bottom horizontal line near "C", set up the heat so it's going out the upper vents (not defrost), max temperature, and fresh (not recirc). Set the fan speed to one notch (even if the fan doesn't spin). Now, open the sunroof just enough for air to vent out the back. This should create a vacuum in the cabin, which will pull air through the intake duct and past the heating elements, and you should get some hot air going out of the vents.
