Well the "euro plate" suggestion would easily make my list (japanese car ... euro plate? ).

Damn... I wanted to get a Euro plate....a Russian one to be exact. Do you think it will be a dumb "mod" even though i'm Russian? I know it's my choice but just asking for opinions...

I cant comprehend how someone getting a Euro plate because they like the wide, thin look of the plate over the shorter, and taller look of the US plate could get flamed so much. Like it makes a difference that its a European plate, when he/she likes the style of it. That would be like telling someone not to get any European audio components for the car, since the car was built in Japan. What the hell kind of sense does that make? Buy what you like people, buy what makes you happy. If some dipwad doesn’t "get it" thats their problem. That's my 1/2 a cent.

Yorker, to answer your question, I doubt anyone that has posted in this thread has even heard the car w/o the secondary cat (including me), so I'd take their blanket "it will sound like ____" statements with a grain of salt. There were plenty of people who automatically said that unbolting the axleback section would make it sound like crap before they even heard it themselves. And if you ask the people that have actually done it, they enjoy the sound quite a bit. That said, you may want to consider just buying a complete exhaust system. You can get a header-back system from Creative Compacts w/o a cat if you want. You'd have the sound you want, a complete bolt package that can be uninstalled, and performance. But, if you dont want to spend that kind of money right now, I'd say give it try and see how it goes. Cant hurt anything, and worse case you end up have to replace the stock mid-pipe.

As has already been stated, there is a cat built right into the exhaust manifold. Whether its a "pre-cat" of sorts or the primary cat is up for debate I guess, but its what the O2 sensors go off of, since there is one up and down stream of it.
