Noise at 75-80 mph
Hey everyone,
Wondering if anyone could help me figure this out. I have 2007 Scion TC... just under 2 years old... got into a small fender bender... Toyota Body Shop and Gieco replaced my hood and stuff...
After that... I seem to be getting some wind / road noise when I hit 75-80 miles per hour on the highway. Don't know what it could be. I told the Body Shop guys... they sealed up the gasket where the hood closes to make it tight... they said they didn't know where else the noise could be coming from...
I thought it might be alignment... but then I don't get any pulling when I'm driving... and no noise until I hit those speeds.
Any idea what it could be? Should I get an alignment done? If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I'm not totally sure its wind noise... I've been trying to pin point it... I'm pretty hopeless anyway. Could be road / wheel noise? But nothing before I hit that speed... that's the wierd thing... no noise at all... its like that speed triggers something...
Could be a lot of different causes. Check the fender liners if they're loose/unfastened. There are also liners/protectors underneath the front end of the car, check those too.
The noise you hear, is it a humming sound? Whistle sound? Or, a metallic low/high pitched clunking sound?
The humming could be caused by the wheels/tires. The whistles could be generated by wind hitting a protruding plastic piece. Rattles, well we all know that infamous sound

Its more of a baffling/ humming sound.. very first time I heard it I thought I had a flat tire... it was really loud... but no problems there. Then I got the guys to adjust the hood gasket and its a lot quieter but still there. I don't know if whatever it was just settled down. it's like the wind was catching in a pocket and releasing... but then again it could be the cycling noise from wheels... i gotta get on the turnpike tomorrow again so I'll try and listen really carefully and post more detail then. Thanks for the help so far guys!! I'll check the fender lines and the liners... shouldn't take too long to do that. Appreciate it!
I don't think it would be a window seal... the fender bender was pretty light... just hit my car on the high edge... missed my bumper really and clipped my hood. So side panels and headlights weren't even affected. So I can't think how the doors would have been affected....
No... stock rims... but maybe they are off balance? Would a bent rim do that? New Brunswick where I drive is pot hole heaven. I don't think I've done any damage... but maybe minor rim damage might do it?
I'm getting on the turnpike tomorrow. So I'll let you guys know more details. Thanks!!!
