Noise after startup and drive...?

So after I put it in drive and go a couple of feet, I hear some sort of "thump" coming from passenger side tire/engine area. Another thread mentioned that xB's have a similar sound, and that it's just a "brake test". Is this also the case for the tC? So sorry for the ignorance, please help me guys! Thanks!

yah me too, Its sort of a clank in my car tho. I just ignored it since nothing ever fell out and it doesnt seem to impact my driving.

Ya i got something like that too, and I do not believe it is normal, because I can never make it to make that noise every single time.
I took mine to the dealer and they said nothing is wrong with it... they couldn't get it to make that noise... but I know it has to be something

can't say I've ever heard it... are you all AT?

Mine does that. doesnt matter going forward or revers. after the first few feet I hear a thump..

Mines a brand new 07 5spd.

I have an AT. I don't hear it in Reverse, only in Drive. Just found this in the manual:

"You may hear a click or motor sound in the engine compartment for a few seconds when the engine is started or just after the vehicle begins to move. This means that the anti-lock brake system is in the self-check mode, and does not indicate a malfuntion."

Maybe thats what we're hearing, although I wouldn't describe the sound as a "click" or "motor sound". Anyway, thanks for your responses ya'all.

waterloo-- you beat me to it. exactly, it's the abs system doing a check, will do it right at about 5mph, or so.. and that's only when the car begins to move for the first time after it has sat for awhile. not if you went somewhere and jumped back into the car, it wouldn't do it..

no worries people.. it's normal :relief:

My 07 5-speed makes the same bump noise after I start to back out of my driveway.. It sounds like the ABS priming up to me.. My past 2000 Prelude did the same thing.. However, my 02 WRX does not.. Different strokes for different folks in the car biz, I assume.

Ok so I paid attention and I heard it as well while backing out of the driveway. It's normal. I hear the same sound on my sister's Altima on the first start of the day.

It's a sort of motor sound, right?
