Default Not happy with my tC

So i just got back from my first road trip in my tC from Atlanta to Orlando and back. On the way there the sunroof was sqeaking and rattling, and the hatch also started to rattle. There is also a ticking noise coming from the engine when im at highway speeds and have my foot on the gas...not sure if that is this VVTI feature?? Anyways, it only has 1500 miles on it and is already making more noises than my 02 tacoma with 87,000 miles.

I have to take it to toyota next wednesday for the body shop to repair a deep scratch that was on the passenger rocker pannel befor ei left the dealer, so i hope they can fix all of this stuff at the same time.

ok good to hear that it is normal, thats what i figured. I will go ahead and get them to fix the sunroof/hatch rattle. Since the tC's are notorious for it, hopefully they have fixed enough of them to be able to know how to get it to stop.

The rattles and all have been widespread on the tC. Hopefully you have a good dealer who will handle it all.

Sorry, those rattles and creaks are there to stay. But if your dealer is somehow able to figure out a way to fix it - i'm taking a roadtrip to GA. This is why we all invest in a sound system lol

if the sunroof is rattling when its up and your at highway speeds theres nuthing you can do. How the design is with the roof out like that the wind is bound to buffer and rattle at those speeds.

it also does it at very slow speeds when i'm on a rough road. and by rough i dont mean potholes, just rough pavement.

the only things that rattle on my 06 were the interior fuse panel, the cargo cover and the radio door (that actually squeaked) ... I fixed them all with thin pieces of black adhesive foam rubber in about 15 minutes one afternoon.

Now the only thing I have is a creak from my trd rsb/rear tein ssp.

I've never owned a sporty car with stiff oem suspension that didn't rattle a little bit. My tC even now with the SSP is no worse that my Celica was.
You guys should hear my friends stock Boxster S, that ****** rattles.

The warranty doesn't cover things like that? Or does it have to be completely broken before they do something?

I've only had the rear hatch rattle and my dealer fixed it. That was like 15k miles ago and it hasn't come back since.

As for the sunroof rattle/squeak... did you have it ALL of the way open? Or just to the first stop. There are 3 open positions... cracked so just the back is open. Then it opens back to a 3/4-ish position. And then it will open further if you press it again.

If you had it on the last one for a road trip, it will very likely squeak and shake on the highway. Not sure if that's your situation or not, but it's not recommended to be open to that position on the highway....

I've got the same sunroof/hatch rattle, and I had 2 techs in the car with me, and they both heard it, and could not fix it. They even called their District Service Mgr, and he said it's a known problem, but there is no fix for it.

Mine started at 5K miles, and it royally ____es me off that a Toyota product rattles at 5K, and I'm told there is no fix. I just don't have the energy to fight this and try and go higher up. I tried that with my 2000 Focus, and it cost me too much time and energy, and I got nowhere.

Anywho, good luck. If they fix the rattles, let us know what they did, so we can take this post to our dealers and say "SEE, SOMEONE OUT THERE KNOWS WHAT THEY'RE DOING!!"
