Opinion on xB from tC owners...
the xb was the first scion i test drove at the dealership. i really liked it except for its shape and speed (slow and boxy) but they have a lot more mods for it and a really huge interior. if you drop some $ on it, they are groovy lookin.
I like the xB, but it does have a few problems that really put the tC way above it.
1. Slow. Slow. Slow. Seriously? It's slow. 10 seconds to get to 60 mph just doesn't do it for me.
2. Rear drum brakes. Find me some technology older than that.
3. Spedometer in the middle of the dash. Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter since it's impossible to speed in something that puts less than 100 hp to the ground.
4. Only the driver window has auto up/down. It really can't be that expensive for Scion to add that feature to the other three windows.
And that's why I got a tC instead.

*Rear drum brakes do suck but like you said, it puts down less than 100 to the wheels so you dont really need 4 wheel disc brakes.
*I like the speedo in the middle. I drive with 1 hand and it always covered up the speedo in the tC. Now I can check my speed (cuz Im going fast
*I agree with you. I got used to both windows, and up/down. One of the things that bothers since I loved that on the tC.

I don't appreciate it when my family (or someone else) asks car I have, at which point I say "Scion tC." Most of them don't hear the tC part for some reason, and then say something like "oh that ugly box thing that looks like a giant suitcase?!."
don't diss my Scion family just because you can't see the beauty in things that are a little different
i dont own a TC.. but i gotta say the damn thing grows on me.. i was never a fan of imports to begin with.. im more a Ford Truck guy.. but i realized 7/8 MPG just doesnt do it when you live 30 miles from work..i decided it was time for something affordable and good on gas.. i loved the way the TC looked and hated the XB.. i tried test driving the TC.. and i realized that im just too damn tall for thisa thing.. im 6'4" .. so the TC was no go
... i laughed at myself.. and tried the XB.. the head room was so amazing.. and i like how it seats or up..(like a truck).. and now after 3 months of driving it.. i love my XB.. but i still stare at TCs..

The most recent issue of AutoWeek (27 Nov) has a Driver's Log update on the xB they have in their test fleet.
One of the reviewers said that Scion is getting rid of the xB. Maybe you all already know this, but it's news to me. He went on to say that the tC was the most "driver oriented" of the three models, and that the xA is a "snore." He commented that he thought the xB was fun to drive. The other reviewer commented on the xB's lack of power, but liked the 32 mpg.
From my experience, AutoWeek tends to be pretty honest about their reviews. In the same issue, they completely ripped the Jeep Compass. So, for them to sound even luke warm about the xB is a compliment.
I don't see myself ever driving one. It's bad enough for an old guy like me to be considering buying a tC... I can't imagine how odd I would look in an xB!

The xB is a cooL box, but it's gives off the vIbE: "Unique, unconventional, liberal, artist."
I picked the tC because it's a more sporty, attractive design, and I can take it on dates with chicks.
If I could afford a second car, no doubt it would be an xB (for fun commute to work.)

I love the way the xB looks. I think it's one of the best looking and most original cars on the market, regardless of price.
Also how spacious the xB is, is just mind blowing. If you've never gotten inside of an xB, do so. You will gain respect for the car, guaranteed.
I used to own an xB since I love how it looks and it's enormous interior space so much. But I really disliked how it drove. Bleh
So slow, so underpowered, always straining to do just about anything (merge onto the freeway? forget it), and the box shape makes you feel like you're driving a UPS truck.
I'm so sick of cars that can just baaaarely handle everyday driving tasks. My tC's got about 60 more hp than my xB had, and that's enough to make it a comfortable and desirable vehicle to drive. No more straining. No more downshifting to third on a hill just to maintain highway speed.
