Default Optimal Shiftpoints for the Track?

Hey all just wanted to know the optimal shiftpoints for the dragstrip. Ive been about 3

times now and the best i seem to get is about a 16.1.

i want to get a 15.7 so i wanted to know when should i shift, at wat RPM is the best time

to shift for best quarter mile.

Thanks

BTW I searched, didnt really find much.

It's not really about shift points.

It's about how you launch, how much you weigh in the car, the weather, etc etc

That's not true! The launch, shift points, and your own weight does make a diffrence. What are your 60ft times?

if you're stock, 15.7 is good..what the magazines got. when you feel torque starting to drop off, shift..you don't need to run it to redline each shift..

slip the clutch a bit so there isn't as much wheel hop/spin. people say around 2300..

so basically rev it until about 2300 with the clutch out a little and then punch it when the light turns to the second yellow ( for good r/t)

hold it at 2300 then slowly let the clutch out, then get on it. and yeah, second yellow.

If your car's stock, isn't 5700 peak horsepower?

If you can get your 60' times under 2 seconds you should run a really nice 1/4 mile time. Your launch is pretty important so just figure out what technique works the best for you. I'm used to driving an AWD car, so I'm not sure how it works with a FWD car. Good luck man!

Your 60' isn't that bad with the same 60' I ran a 15.5 stock. Were are you shifting at. It just as bad to shift too early than too late. You will have to find the happy medium. Try shifting around 5800 and see what your 1/4 turns out to be. I am trying to get to the track this week to see where I am now. I know I will break 14's now. I let you know what I get and where I shifted at.

i usually shift at 6k. When i try to get over that usually bump the rev limiter but I only redlined in 1st gear. The most i ever gotten to redline in 2nd is to around 5500 and you can start feeling a drop in torque. 6k rpm to shift at.
