Default optimum shifting&best wax, leather polish questions etc

hey everybody, I'm hoping to get my tC in within the next few weeks, but I'd like to buy most of the little stuff now just cuz.... and was wondering what your opinions were on some maintanence things.

Car Wash - I think I'm settled on the Mr. Clean Auto-Dry car wash, heard too much good about it and it sounds sweet.

Car Wax - I've never waxed a car in my life, seeming how the tC's my first owned car - I've heard about Turtle Gold wax and some other things like Zaino and Zymol etc, but what's the best, what's the best way to apply it, etc

Leather/Leather dash cleaner/polisher - I want to get katzkin leather installed in my car ASAP so was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on leather maint. items, I've heard of things like Armorall and such, but I really have no idea. Also if you know a good fabric/stock dash cleaner/polisher that'd be great too.

Oh, and I've never owned a stick before, but I drove my dad's VW Jetta GT stick back when I lived with him like a few years ago, so I kinda know how to drive a stick and I'm dead-set on getting a Flint Mica 5-speed and was wondering what the optimal shift point was in a tC - I know the general thing, like don't bog, over-rev, down-shift going to fast, double-clutching etc but I don't know the RPM band of the tC too well, I know the torque peaks @ 4000 and the HP @5700, but that's just before red-line - and I don't want to be roasting gas everytime I shift....

thanks for helping a newbie and I'm trying to get my brother-inlaw to let me drive his stick so I'm not stuck on the lot like a dork..... 0.0

i use meguiars gold class paste coat. but tat was about 2 months ago. i stopped washin my car. i drive it to much.

i dunt have leather and for the dash i use wet towels and go over with dry towel.

as for shiftin? you shouldnt worry so much since you have a 4 speed. personally, i drive my car soft but it still needs a good punch once in a while. but i drive a 5 speed

If you want to get serious about your car care, there's only one place to go. Most of the good car care stuff is not sold at your local pep boys and autozones. Read up here if you want your car looking its best.

keep rpms from 2 to 3k range if u care enough
i.e. shift at 3,000

keep rpms from 3 to 4k if u love to speed around
i.e. shift at 4,000

or u can keep your car in the 4 to 5 and above range if u just dont give a damn

the higher u keep the shiftpoints, the closer it becomes a Formula 1 engine
and we all know those are rebuilt constantly.

I plan on keeping my engine stock and untouched for 200,000 miles cause I got it like that.
