Default Parking lights stay on while parking break is on.

Well I found out that when you put on the parking break and accidently leave on the parking lights( not sure if they are called that but the orange lights) that they stay on. But then when you dont have the parking break on the parking lights turn off when you shut the door.

What do you mean? I assume you mean park in an automatic transmission, or do you mean the emergency break?

if you have them in the parking light position BEFORE you open the door, they will go off when you open the door. I run with the parking lights on a lot, and they auto-off just like the regular lights.

Sometimes I take an emergency break while I am too stressed out from everyone misspelling "brake".

In order to have the lights auto off, you must kill the ignition and then open the door. Nobody else has lights that stay on with the parking brake. I set mine all the time(5-speed) and I never have them stay on.

If setting your parking brake is causing your lights to stay on, you should seriously get that checked.

Ditto. I do the same thing... I wish I could tell my insurance company that I have DRLs b/c of it, but I don't think they'd buy it.

And if I happen to have to change my bulbs a little sooner than normal b/c I'm running them more often... well, so be it. It's my little price for the convenience of never really thinking about my lights.

Though at least once I have almost left my lights on. I've turned the car off and gotten out (lights turned off), but I got back in to close the sunroof or something and when you turn the key to ON again, the lights come back on. So I had to manually turn them off once or twice. But I caught them before I left them on - all good.

I am not talking about the reg lights. I am talking about when you turn on just the orange lights.

It's impossible to get away with it. My Mom is my insurance agent and they have records of everything like that.

My parking lights (orange lights and accent lamps) go OFF when I openn the door with the e-brake (hand brake) ON. I have a 5spd so I pull into a parking spot, put shifter in neutral, pull hand brake, turn off ignition, put back in gear (if on incline), open door. I RARELY turn the lights off, most of the time they just stay on the parking location or I leave the low beams on. I guess I'm lazy like that.

If your car does not exhibit this behavior, HAVE THE DEALER CHECK IT. PLZKTHXBYE
