Performance mods for the daily driver?
Hey everyone, I was thinking about modding up my car, but since she's my daily driver and I'm a typical college student I'm not sure how much sense it makes to invest in mods such as suspension, exhaust, etc. A full on suspension would make the ride a bit uncomfortable, an exhaust system would make roadtrips a bit deafning, etc.
I just wanted some advice on what best would suite me, I've been thinking:
new tires (stock size) for better grip, any recomendations?
sway bar to correct understeer
intake?
And I'm not sure what else would fit the category.

suspension wont be a bad idea, coilovers if u have the money; springs and sways if u dont.
i have the trd axle back and it makes it so i dont hear the squeaks and rattles in the car.
some say tires are a good investment, but i think money can be spent better elsewhere... im a college student too
Window tints should probably be the very first thing, even though i put it off till later. make sure you know whats legal and what isnt.
honestly, intake is worthless in my opinion. unless you are gonna go full NA, forget the intake. although it does look cool...
if u choose the FI route, talk to the turbo guys, im sure they know their stuff. some are daily drivers.

for a car that just wants to get modded, but nothing crazy.. an axleback for some sound, a set of mild drop springs (htech's/eibachs/trd/etc), and a rear swaybar will be nice. the exhaust gives yu a little sound, and the suspension is for looks ad feel.
grab up an s2000/element antenna, get the windows tinted and your set.

I'm in the same boat.
Intake
Springs, or coilovers if you can afford them
Sway bars
Short shifter (makes your car feel like a sports car with no down side)
Tint
Grille
Pulleys
Theres a lot of different ways you can go depending on what you want, aesthetics or performance or a mix. To be honest, you wouldn't be deaf in one ear with a Magnaflow exhaust either. They're really not that loud.

i love that im seeing more vegas people on here! do you go to UNLV too? well, my tC is a daily driver too and i have a loud exhaust that doesnt bother me and nothing but springs as far a suspension goes, and the ride seems a little better to me. but for you id say some sways, intake and window tint
From sound clips I have listened to Intake seems pretty loud..unless the video is manipulated to sound that way...thats what has been keeping me from getting my intake, I have a daily driver also.
Tires first, without question. The Falken FK452 is the best high performance tire at the pricepoint. You simply can't buy a better tire for the money.
Then a rear TRD sway, and change out the stock shifting gear (shifter, bushings) if you're driving a manual.
Skip all of the other stuff that's been mentioned, with the exception of tint. Daily drivers need as few noisemaking doodads as possible, so forget I/H/E, pulleys, and the rest of the stuff that makes noise, gains 1hp, and drops 5mpg.

Hey everyone, sorry for the late response, been super busy lately. Yeah olaHalo I go to UNLV, got a SW tC with 15% tint all around and security system going in next week, I'm on campus every other day, you?
Tires are a must, do the Falken's come in stock size and what country do they originate from? It rained here a while ago and these stock tires are such a POS. TRD Sway Bar after and what shifter/bushings work best?

What MY tC do you have? I have an 07 and stock tires are HORRID! I also would suggest tires even though I didnt do that 1st. Sway bar is a good mod, and very good $ per performance ratio. Short shifter is more a driving feel mod more than a performance mod. Falken is Japanese brand tire, and yes, they do come in 215/45/17.

Sup allen, 07 SW tc here. What part of town are you in? Anyway, I say go with tint, tires (yea the stockies suck in rain), lowering springs (may be a lil bumpier, but will not affect warranty or damage the car), and an axleback exhaust (this will not void your warranty either and give it a nice tone, probably TRD or magnaflow).

free intake mod- remove silencer and relplace with 2 inch cap, next the intake tube that goes into the fender it looks big but when removed very restricted, replace that also. remove the carbon filter from inside intake box its for fumes not to get out when the cars off after driving, very restricted. now buy K&N drop in filter. now you can hit higher rpm easier
TRD suspension new tires or wider wheels/tires will be a good start.
I'm in CA so any power mods, to be, are pretty much useless unless I plan to go all out, which there's no point for daily driving. But everyone has different philosophies when it comes to driving.
(bottom line) I think suspension will be the most effective with the most obvious results.
