Default Please quick, calling Toyota

tC owners, do you have dimples in your front bumper for License Plate mounting?

The dealer drilled holes in mine. I'm still a little mad.

Thank you.

FYI, I called Billy at McGeorge Parts and he was extremely helpful.
Most Toyotas have the dimples.
Needless to say, even if it does, the salesman drilled them lopsided. I tried calling the dealership, but the Service guy said that I have to talk to the saleman who drilled it, whom, btw, was sh*tcanned due to complaints (the sales manager told me this). So, now I have to talk to a manager, or get Toyota Corporate involved, which I am not doing until I talk to the manager.

Yeah, WTF does Toyota NOT put proper freakin' holes in the front bumpers?
They say they made this car for the US and they KNOW we have two-plate states!
My (thank god) are straight, but they're freakin' lame holes with big sheet-metal screws to thread into the plastic.
That's just sorry - I noticed this on Saturday when i got my plates...

For people who haven't purchased the tC yet, if you don't want your holes, ask the dealer not to put on the front plates. Thats what I did, I have dimples and no holes so it doesn't look that bad.

In SOME states the dealer has no choice about mounting the front plate - it is illegal for them to deliver the vehicle without front plates.

Other places require front plates, but leave it up to the owner.

And of course some states have no front plate requirement.

Lots of cars are made like this. My current Pontiac has no holes up front, just two dimples where I would need to drill to mount a plate. I hope they don't drill my Scion either. I don't need a front plate here in NC and when I go to Florida I won't need one there either....

EXACTLY! I told my salesman NOT to drill holes into my front bumper. When I went to pick up my new tC, I asked him why did they drill the holes after I told them not too. He basically told me what Tomas just stated. Here in Cali, we are a 2-Plate state. I fixed mine though. I just used some extra parts around the house and touch-up paint. Total cost? About $8. (The cost of the touch-up paint.) I can post a pic if peeps want.

All I'm saying is that SCION could make this done professionally instead of having a salesperson take a Dremel to our bumpers!
That's not a good way to do things, IMO.

Scion makes a quite reasonable assumption that their dealers are professionals and will perform their work properly. If the dealership chooses to have Cross-Eye the Lot Boy, or the Salesman drill holes in their customer's new cars, then they should step up and spend all that money they saved by doing the job 'on-the-cheap' to fix the problem they just created.

Scion doesn't put holes in all bumpers 'cause some states do not require front plates. Since cars are dealer transferred all the time, they really don't know which Scion off the boat requires holes...only when the car is finally sold is that known.

For those who don't want holes poked in their new car, PUT IT ON THE SIGNED SALES DOCUMENT. That way if they screw up and do it anyway you are 100% covered because it is a part of the signed sales agreement that they won't do it. (I've done that for years to keep dealers from putting dealer badges/stickers on my new cars.)

This thread makes me laugh because I gave my car back as soon as I saw it. My salesman decided he would put his dealer advertisment plate on my car. I told him to send it back and I didn't want anything on my bumper.
