Default Possible epidemic problem in tCs?

So I had a tC come in for "a sound in the sunroof when going over bumps." We heard the sound which sounds like a creaking from the passenger side of it. So I take it back and have to remove the headliner which basically means ripping out the entire rear interior of the car and some of the front to. So I take off the headliner and we take a look at it. Turns out that all the nuts that hold the sunroof to the body on the passenger side were not even installed at the factory. So I ordered some nuts and installed them and put it back together and it was fine. Now what I and a lot of people at the shop are wondering is this an isolated incident or are you guys getting a lot of weird noises from that sunroof?

I hear sounds from it too. It doesn't sound like a creaking but almost like if a small rock falls on the sunroof. It's a *TACK* sound. At first I thought I didn't close the visor properly but everything is in place. The sound is quite annoying!

I think most tCs have the sunroof poping sound. However, I dont know if it means they are missing the said bolts.

I have the Popping sound, and i brought it to the dealership. They said they do not have a fix for it yet. They kept my car there for 6 hours to tell me they couldn't fix it, they only CONFIRMED it. so retarded, because i was able to simulate the sound with one of the workers there.
Anyways...Since i am going to be busy for the next few weeks, hopefully by the time i bring it back to them, they will be able to fix it. If not, they better give me something free!!! Actually they better give me something anyways

Hmm. I've only hear noises from the sunroof a few times. Usually after the car has sat in the sun all day, then when I start driving it might make a little pop. I don't hear it when driving ever, even when going over speedbumps, in and out of my driveway, etc. I'm guessing my nuts are there.

They lied. I had the same problem. After reading the other forum I told the service manager that he should call the Tech Hotline and thay will have the information he needed to fix the cracking sound. He did and got the information. It took about an hour and a half to fix. In short the cracking sound was caused by a few bolts that were not tight enough. New torque specs were given as the resolution. The dealer took apart the sunroof , and fixed it. No more cracking sound.

there has not been a TSB (Tech Service Buletin) released yet, but the dealers can get the information if they call.

I think the missing bolts is unrelated.. but damn.. that's bad. I hope it came with 16 lug nuts.

This is a common problem for Lexuses too. . . in fact all Toyota sun/moonroofs.

A piece of fealt or weatherstripping over the rear edge of the moonroof should stop the rattle/pop/creak.

Why would you say that? I live "up north," and I've been running AC forever... it does top 100 here from time to time, and it's been a pretty cool month so far... temps around 85 every day.

Whoa. Good thing, because it would have sucked if they weren't.

I have the same problem, it only happens when I go over bigger bumps though. I'll get them to fix it when I go in to get them to install a few things.
